Trade David Lee for Okafor.
Why, with the current roster, I don't see Lee gettng to take a lot of shots this year. His Off scoring is going to drop. So his value is going to be based on Def, which isn't very high. Okafor is a strong Def, weak Off. He could focus on Off RBDS and passing back out to the shooters. Plus his salary expires at the end of the season, which will free up 15 mil more. I know it is early to be discussing the next season when the current one hasn't happened. But why not plan way ahead. The W's might even be able to get some picks back.
Just a thought!

Not needed anymore. Pass. We aren't in cap hell anymore, especially with Bogez coming off the books at the end of the season.

Just curious, with you guys signing IGGY, would you guys trade Barnes? As a bucks fan, would you be interested in a unprotected 2014 pick for him?

Barnes/Klay are going to be too important for us right now to give up. If Barnes goes we hjave a starting lineup of Curry/Klay/Iggy/Lee/Bogut but we have noone to score off the bench. He is going to be an important piece of the team, so no, there is no way the warriors FO will be interested.

I'm sure you could make it more enticing than that. Barnes won't be moved for a late lottery pick in 2014.He's deemed part of our young core and Lacob said we weren't looking to move any of our core, which was paramount.

But for me personally I'd look into Ersan/Henson/2014/2016 for Barnes and lee

I hope not, there's still one major issue with this team...

if you watched the press conference for iggy, the magician that is bobby looked so f'ing tired and moving someone like dless in anything better that a straight salary dump is going to be draining. he did not look like he had the energy to keep working the scenarios and phones to get it done. at least not right now. i would be thrilled if we could work something out.

i would like to do something like this, even if udoh would be redundant.

Of the proposed trades, only that, LMA, and Love trades are one's I don't totally hate.

I think we can probably get Udoh cheap without giving up much though.

Be aware that the ESPN trade machine is still using the 2012-13 salaries. This trade likely works for 2013-14, but just something to be aware of. I suspect they won't be up to date for several weeks.

Love and LMA are not significant enough upgrades to Lee, to warrant losing Barnes or more to get them...doesn't make sense to me.

haha really you think barnes is worth more than the upgrade from udoh to henson + 2014 unprotected 1st as well as a 2016 1st?

it's pretty widely accepted that udoh + ersan for lee would be beneficial.

i"d do that trade. Ersan is a very useful player and Henson has potential as a backup, plus the Bucks should keep being a late lotto team fringe playoff team for a long time.

TI: MKE/GSW

Post#1255 » by M-C-G » Sat Jul 13, 2013 7:50 pm

Hey we have a thread going on the MKE board about acquiring a SF, and stopped in to see if this deal would work for Barnes. First off I know you guys aren't selling for pennies on the dollar, and I also realize that you don't need cap savings as much as you did last week. Also, please don't counter for Henson or Sanders as its been clear that our management is choosing to build around them.

So;

GSW OUT: David Lee, Barnes
GSW IN: Ersan, Udoh, 14 top 10 protected pick

GSW saves money, and gets a stretch 4 on a much better deal than Lee. Also gets what would likely be a middle first round pick in a great draft. You guys know what Udoh brings, and if you want additional savings you could always choose not to extend the QO next year with him.

Thoughts?

Warriors will have about 15 mil in cap space if they just wait until next year... I think we're done right now and FWIW, Lee and Barnes are better than Udoh and Illy... Top 10 is way too much protection on the pick as well if they were to do this... Don't see it happening though...

Yeah, can't see that happening with the top 5 of this draft being so strong.

It is the only reason GS would even consider this deal. Lee is the more effective player than Illy and Udoh is a solid rotation guy while Barnes has the potential to be a future all star. I see no reason for the Dubs to even consider it with top 10 protection.

Hell, I wouldn't be happy about this deal if the pick had NO protection.

So, no. This deal stinks lol. Would be a huge steal for the Bucks.

Sorry but you can't ask for a player who may be flawed but is still consistently productive and an Allstar and ask for a player who is nearly untouchable and give us players that are both worse than those two and a pick that's top 10 protected? And call a player who barely played and was drafted lower than Barnes untouchable in the process as Barnes value is probably higher.

Henson instead of Udoh and make the pick top 5 protected and warriors would maybe do it. Don't think our front office is too high on Henson as he wasn't in draft rumors much at all last year. However us fans do like him.

Lee for Ersan and Udoh straight up is about the closest thing to a real trade warriors would realistically accept after engaging in talks like this. Milwaukee would still be getting the best player in the trade. Lacob and West are VERY high on Barnes.
