The future is now. Summer league - Hawks/Clippers

Post#1 » by parson » Fri Jul 12, 2013 10:26 pm

I'm having a ball watching this game. Our youngsters look very promising, including (surprise!) Nogueira. Love to also have the big man, Boban Marjanovic. He is looooong: alters shots and gets rebounds without leaving the floor.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Highlights so far:
Jenkins and Bebe worked a sweet PNR that ended up in a one-handed dunk off an alley oop.
Schroeder is very self-controlled. Almost German-like.
Scott is a man among boys.
Bebe is a hugely talented shot blocker and runs shockingly well.

Lowlights:
Jenkins is forcing the issue like mad. Determined to prove he's a Summer league star.
Mack looks like he's the rookie.

End of 1st half. Everything fell apart when we went to our 2nd unit. Their superior strength was obvious. When we mixed our starters back in, it didn't matter. Being weaker, we got all the foul calls against us. Not complaining about the calls, as stronger guys always get the calls for them.

Clips up by 16.

Still, happy with Bebe. He could score 10 points a game with just alley oops. Guy is an amazing target: good running ability, great hands and fantastic length. Just throw it up and he'll catch it.

just got home and turned the game on with 1 minute to go in the first half. what I saw in that time was Schroeder looks like he was a good pick. appears to be a real point guard. Jenkins can shot the hell out of the ball. Bebe is big. looks like these guys maybe really good in about two to three years.

that is all i have seen so far. looking forward to the second half.

5th foul on Schroeder. 4 have been touch calls. Kid's crying to the coach, who leaves him in.

Honestly, 3 of the calls were when the offensive player bumped into Shroeder's chest while dribbling.

Schroeder just threw a perfect half-court pass to a streaking Muscala for a dunk.

Schroeder has vision. Yeah, he's got that.

John Millsap is sooooo anxious. How anxious, you ask? He just lost the ball out of bounds, fighting Bebe for the rebound. Bebe had the position but baby Millsap came flying in, "NO! It's mine!"

By the way, 18 fouls against us, 10 against them. Their muscle is killing us.

Small run where the refs swallowed their whistles turned a 19 point game into a 7 point deficit.

I, regretfully, missed the game. Thanks for the updates, Parson.

We know what Jenkins is. Shooter. Volume scorer.

Glad to hear the rookies didn't look too overwhelmed.

Dd we see Noguiera's translator near the bench? Can he understand simple instructions in English?

Mike Scott IS a man among boys at age 24.

Thoughts on Jenkins being featured as a #1 or 2 option on offense this season?
