People are just haters. If we get 5th or 6th seed nobody in the world will be surprised. It's funny, with a WORSE team 2 years ago people expected us to get first or 2nd seed. Our team is better than it was assuming Kobe comes back 100% (which he will) and suddenly we are expected to miss the playoffs.

Nash will be better than last year.
He will be 39, and so to expect him to all of a sudden fly like he did 3 or 4 years ago, is delusional.

However, he will hopefully be injury-free.
He will have a better and willing P and Roll big in Kaman.
The chemistry will be better on the team.

And don't discount the fact that he will have something to prove.
D12 apparently had concerns about three things as to why he left the Lakers:
1)He did not want to play for MDA
2)He wanted to be able to take over the Lakers after this year and therefore wanted a commitment from the Lakers FO that they would get rid of Kobe after this coming year
3)He felt Nash was a weak spot defensively, and that his offesive skills had deteriorated
All these according to Broussard.

Nash was specifically called out.
I think he comes back strong trying to prove that he is still a great offensive PG.

The interview with Nash on 710ESPN he said he said something to the effect that he is glad to have people count out himself and MDA, so we will see. I agree that chemistry will be so much better and hopefully that, along with good health in general, will lead to exceeding expectations. I am excited to see what MDA/Nash/KB24/Pau can do with a full training camp and hand picked staff. The biggest issue will be defense, so I really hope there is one more signing coming to add a wing defender.

Might of been another casualty for being a laker fan. I think he might have gotten pinched by the Laker hating mods on the main board.

Q: Why did you think Dwight left?

Nash: He just didn't seem to be comfortable here.

Q: Did you think criticisms from Laker fans like telling Dwight not to smile played a part in that?

Nash: Not really, that was just a small extent. Dwight just didn't seem comfortable here. If he didn't like being here, then he shouldn't play here. I love playing here. Being a Laker, the experience has been remarkable. I love playing for this fanbase and playing for this franchise.

Q: Did you think it was smart to have both Kobe and D'Antoni in the meeting when Dwight had frictions with both?

Nash: They had to be there. Like I've said, we didn't have a chance coming in, but after the meeting we at least gave Dwight something to think about.

Q: Are you sad that Metta World Peace is gone?

Nash: Metta has been a great teammate. I'm really sad Metta's gone. Not so much sad about Dwight.

Q: What's going to happen this season? Are you disappointed you will be part of a re-building?

Nash: Not at all. It's hard to win a championship when 29 other teams are fighting for it. This Lakers franchise has a track record of winning. We'll get back to winning.

Q: Do you believe the idea of playing with Kobe may turn away some FA?

Nash: I don't think so. Not at all.

Q: Do you think LeBron or Carmelo will come to L.A.?

Nash: I don't get into those kind of things. But the Lakers' history speaks for itself. I'm sure the Lakers always have a shot. Even if guys like LeBron or Carmelo may want to stay with their teams, the thought of being a Laker will always peak their interest.

Q: I heard you're a great soccer player too!

Nash: I'm just overrated.
