If you gonna sign players that WON'T BE PLAYING anytime soon, then pls also sign Allen Iverson. Much appreciated.
Wacht out, one of Allen Iverson fans.

Don't judge me. Only Jebus can.

Greg Oden may delay working out for teams

The Heat remains very much in the running for center Greg Oden, with the Spurs, Celtics and Mavericks also receiving strong consideration. But Oden is taking it slowly and likely will not work out for teams until August. He believes he will be ready to play by the start of the season. Oden has had five knee operations and hasn't played in an NBA game since 2009.

Can't do contact drills, can't workout for teams until August??? I thought his last surgery was 9 months ago.

Dude he has had multiple knee surgeries. One knee surgery is serious enough.

Why? We had Howard sitting at the end of the bench, and he really can't give anything at this point, yet he was there. If Oden can't, so be it, but if he can, then it helps us immensely.
This position isn't make or break for us. We're the best team in the league regardless. It would simply be nice to have such commodities sitting around.

Some people are over-analyzing the situation too much.

Because taking Oden is agree to a commitment to rehabbing him. The Heat want no distraction if not needed. Howard was a player/coach he contributed and was able to take care of himself. Unlike Oden, he will need attention. So the Heat want some level of confidence in Oden's ability before they make that commitment. You just witness the distraction and effect that Bynum had on the 76ers. Once he started running, his knees swelled up and was just a waste of money and coaching time. There are many adjustments the Heat will have to make for Oden.

As I said heat fans, no reason to get worked up about this because its highly unlikely that we sign this oaf

He would, but he's trapped in this thread and doesn't know how to get out.

If he's still a year away from playing then the problem is not how out of shape he is. If he's able to workout and practice with regularity there's no reason to believe he couldn't be ready by december-january, that's a big if though.
Anyway, you don't really have much to lose with Andersen back, Oden would be just the icing on the cake.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

If we do sign him we won't tap into the MLE.

That's not comparable man, Sixers traded their best player for Bynum, ofcourse they were on the edge of their seat with will he/won't he play. This is more like the Eddy Curry signing, and nobody would call him a distraction

If Oden passes the requirements that Riley will set forth to him, then I will look forward to seeing him. But Pat is weighing the option to sign Dalembert as well. Its either sign a declining veteran player in Dalembert (whom may be professional enough to get in shape) or sign damage goods who is damn near still a rookie in Oden.

If this was actually the case, my decision would be to amnesty Joel and sign both of them.
