Lebron James and boxing out
carry over from a thread I made at the GB.
Someone stated that Lebron doesn't box out very much or very well, what do you guys think? I'm curious on what other Heat fans perspective on this is.
When I watch Lebron play, he generally boxes out and rebounds very hard when he is guarding bigs like David West. I saw him box out and rebound like a beast in the 4th quarter of that entire series, 2013 ECF. He doesn't really box out against perimeter players but that's mainly because he doesn't have to because generally those guys have to get back on transition D especially against the Heat.
My only issue with Lebron is that he sometimes forgets about rebounding and just leaks out in transition though. He is the best rebounder on the team and he should secure the board since that is how you end an opponent's offensive possession.

No, he doesn't always box out. George and Leonard were his guys, and they both collected double-digit rebounds. That said, he does everything for us already, so it's a really small nitpick. If he wasn't already tasked with saving the world every night, I might care, but even superman sucked at some stuff.

Re: Lebron James and boxing out
If someone comes to you with the "well he doesn't box out" he already lost the argument
Check the stats, rebounds
You compare his rebounding to Leonard and George, both who aren't first options on their own team.
**** Leonard is told on offense to always crash the boards. (That's his job)
And LBJ out rebounded George in the series.

Stop being so disrespectful.

Boxing out doesn't mean rebounds. Dudes who box out don't get the rebound. Battier is our best guy at boxing out.

Yeah, I think it primarily matters on who he is defending. If it's a shooter/perimeter then often times he doesn't do it. He always does it when asked to guard bigs though.

Actually, Lebron probably is the best one at doing it, he just doesn't do it as frequently as Battier and Anthony did, imo.

Barely does it in the reg season, however does it during the playoffs.

To be fair he didn't guard them all game, and when they get rebounds after a defensive switch when lebron wasn't even on them isn't fair to pin the blame on lebron.

Can you take your irrational love of Lebron elsewhere?

Oh, it was me who said it in the GB. Although, I think these posters are getting the wrong idea. The thread was talking about guys who don't box out, but can still rebound. (although some people started being funny and put Bargnani)
I mentioned that it has been brought up by JVG as well as Tony & Eric, also you can see it for yourself that Lebron doesn't box out for the most part (not counting FT attempts) and certain stuations. But he's still one of the best rebounders in the league. He more than likely will outjump/outquick a guy for a rebound than actually box them out.
The conversation was based more on technique than result.

Actually, it seems like more people are agreeing with me than you. I don't recall any of those guys ever criticizing Lebron's rebounding and boxing out, maybe in the Finals against Leonard. I already stated that Lebron boxes out the bigs, but sometimes misses out on perimeters but it seems agreeable here.
You on the other hand just think he never boxes out which is full of crap. Plus, I already told you go to watch the 2013 ECF in the 4th quarter and you purposely ignored my post in the GB because you had nothing for me.

Re: Lebron James and boxing out
There's a reason why his rebounding numbers in the playoffs go to double digits.. He puts more of an all round effort in the playoffs than the reg season, and that's just fine with me.
So as I said before.. In the reg season there are times where he doesn't box.. But in the playoffs he makes it an issue to box out.
