and the reason why 5 teams passed on noel is because he had so many red flags, His knees, the people around him, and his game out side of shot blocking and rebounding. It was a smart move not taking him. Porter made sense.

That was awesome.

I recall Kwame Brown passing the "eye test" in his first SL. That's all you need to know about summer league.

Porter's gonna be fine. I thought he and the entire team suffered from terrible PG play.

Well ........... I am panicking. Not because of his lack of strength. His IQ looks good and his shots will eventually start falling but his first step is so slowwwwwwww. Defensively he generally knows where to be but quick players were able to go right by him with ease. Maybe his legs are tired and he'll gain quickness with rest... I pray.

So I missed the start of the game but I had recorded it.

First quarter. Man the PGs look terrible.

Ves made two decent moves and scored on both from the outside. Created both.

Otto has quick hands. Deflected a pass. And he made a perimeter move and scored. Closed out well. Oww. Nice pump fake from Otto, step around a player and nailed it. Created his own shot.

Interesting. They were talking about Ottos hitch in his shot and should they try to fix it. Phil said, at this stage, you never want to try to mess with that. Give him time to figure out what he needs to do to adjust. Beal needed to adjust. He was getting his shot blocked to start the year. But he adjusted and learned to create better space. Then Wall returned and it helped more because he was more open.

Said they had Glen Rice at a top 20 talent in the draft.

WOW. GS was really jumping our PGs and they couldn't handle it at all. Never getting into the offense on a lot of possessions.

No worries about Porter. His performance was about what I expected.

Singleton looks like he's gotten a bit stronger. Also I wondered how long it would take for him to shave his head with that expanding bald spot on top of his head. But he is looking more like a PF to me.

Rice plays alot like Nick Young.

It's clear after 1 year that MKG was an overdraft and will need to improve substantially to live up to his draft status especially considering 3-4 players taken immediately after him are much better than he is (Beal, Drummond, Lillard, Barnes and maybe Waiters). Wing players who can't create with dribble penetration or aren't great outside shooters aren't worth high lotto picks.

Yeah, Singleton has the barrel chest of a PF or a MWP type SF.

Ves needs to take some Yoga and Ballet. He looks like he is in good shape but he needs to work on balance.

2nd quarter. Nice block by Ves.

Ves's body is starting to look very Dirk like.

Yet so many here were so sure he would be awesome. The next Scott Pippen.

Would love to pull up the list of who those posters were that wanted MKG over Beal.

Box score, highlights, and post game interviews from Wizards game 1, 52-56 loss to the Warriors:

http://www.nba.com/games/20130713/GSWWAS/gameinfo.html

Shooting from both teams was really bad. Porter and Rice were 6-25 combined.
Green and Machado were 2-20.
Porter and Rice, Jr. rebounded well.
Otto finished -10, Rice +3.
Otto was just 3-13 FG, 1-2 FT, 7 points. Also had 2 shots blocked.
Singleton had a very solid stat line. 4-9 FG, 5-7 FT, 13 points.
Bazemore 7-14 FGs and Draymond Green's 12-14 FTs were key for GS.

Too bad the Wizards don't have a distributor on the roster.

This is the most ludicrous logic imaginable. Not attributing it to you, 80s. But if they really used the third overall pick on a player with the short-sighted goal of simply making the playoffs next year then that's truly pathetic. The goal should be to build a title contender, not make the playoffs. Not only that, but it became downright counterproductive to then overpay Webster a week after drafting Porter. I wasn't high on Len, but Noel has two elite skills, rebounding and shot-blocking. Those two skills, as well as his ability to run the floor with Wall and Beal, made him a perfect fit. We can make the playoffs with or without Porter next year. Just like we can make it had we drafted Noel even if he had to sit until January. The pick never should have been about next year, IMO. It should have been about the next 10 years.

They DID. Chad Ford was on Bill Simmons's podcast for a draft review and said he talked to all the front office people of the top 5 picks and all were afraid of taking Noel b/c he wouldn't play until January/February. Its a pathetic rationale for drafting.

Inexcusable cowardice in my view, which is why I ripped us unmercifully and will continue to do so.

Just got done watching some of the MIL game. Wolters looked pretty comfortable out there. Should make a nice back up PG.

Vesely is weird. He's not skilled but he clearly has basketball IQ. He was actually talking on defense today playing at the 5. He was very competitive.

I just wish he had a skill that would make him useful. I was shocked to see those Dirk type shots today. But yeah he needs to be confident.

We still should decline his option on Halloween.
