I don't think we're after a max free agent unless it's a perfect fit. We'll build through the draft and add pieces/make trades on a case by case basis. Henny will build this team "systematically"

We certainly won't sign someone just for the sake of signing someone, but keep in mind that having cap room gives us great flexibility to acquire a "star" player that has become disgruntled in their current situation. Trades become much easier as well.
Having said that, cap space is only so valuable, and eventually if we don't use it, it gets lost as all the young players get extended and/or resigned to more lucrative deals. There's probably a two year window - 2014 and 2015 - where we will have real cap space, after which we're making decisions on signing Vuc and Harris.

hopefully no one, we want to be bad!
I think its a good thing if we are exposed in some areas during the season. It will give us a glimpse at what we need to work on to improve our squad and what the guys will need to train in.
If we are lacking shot blocking for example then I am sure we will train to be better at it during the pre season/ season.

He actually is a perfect fit for this team.
Good shooter
Pesky defender
True professional
Hard worker
Isn't that the kind of player you want playing along side your young developing talent? But I guess people are going to hate on him because he was forced to be a completely different player for us when people got injured and we literally had nobody else that could create offense.
Why are people in denial about this? He's not getting traded anytime soon. Rob thinks highly of AA and his skill set will fit perfectly with this team once Dipo and Harris develop more to take on more of the offensive load and AA can sit back and do what he does best.
He also has a reasonable contract. So it's not like he's killing our cap space. But go on, let's all look for reasons to hate on players and want to trade them for absolutely no reason.
wow wow wow I'm not hating, or saying he's not anything you just said. I'm disputing your statement "he's a perfect fit" , let's stay on that suject.
It may not be urgent to deal him, but that doesn't mean he's a PERFECT FIT. Many people tend to get a little extremist around here. He doesn't have to be a perfect fit or a piece of crap, and saying he's not one of those is not saying the other.
He occupies a position where we have young guys we want to develop while he has trade value that would help fill positions where we don't. That alone makes him... not a perfect fit (to avoid hurting sensitivities).
A lonesome morning

We want to be bad? God, that's the most idiotic thing I have heard in a while. We don't want to be bad because losing breeds losing. That's why you never see the miamis and la's and San Antonio's of this world suck for more than 2 years before they're right back at it

Kind of depends on who we draft. offer sheeting Cousins or Wall is hopeless. Wiz ain't letting Wall walk within the division.
2015 i think may be the time, and make a run at kevin love, he would actually fit really well here, unless we draft julius randle
yep lets Pair kevin love whos an average defender with Vucevic. it doesnt Fit well. we need someone like an Anthony davis kind of player. i would say Serge Ibaka but i dont see the thunder trading him.

If adams turns into a good defensive big I bet they make Ibaka more expendable. Seems like we'd have plenty of ammo to get him

If they are really considering Oladipo as a PG, then what young guy is AA really blocking from developing?

GET REAL!!! We do not have the history of a quality franchise as the teams you mentioned. We have the history of now of FOUR super stars NOT wanting to stay in Orlando (Shaq, Penny, TMAC & Howard). We have to suck to get better, in the process we have to change the culture to a franchise players want to sign with, get drafted to and stay here...PERIOD!!! The poster you are trying to correct was DEAD ON. we want to expose our weaknesses because they you can easily correct them versus being a Milwaukee just good enough to give its fans has hope to make the play offs he just bad enough to get your butts kicked and handed to y in the first round.

I believe thy want Oladipo as the future PG/SG, Harkless as the future SG/SF and Harris as the future SF/PF.
Consider you start AA or Nelson depending on the team you are playing. In other words, you put the young guns up against the toughest defensive match ups. You let the match ups dictate the development of the young players.
Then next season we can easily draft the BPA and he would work and be inserted in to the lineup no matter the position because you spent a year grooming Oladipo, Harkless & Harris to play two different positions each.
Just to to draftexprss.com there is no top 10 center. It's all 1-4's which mean if you use AA and Nelson to mentor these young guys and fill in as starters depending on the match us, you #1 develop the yang talent as starters. #2 you develop them at multiple positions, #3 you help develop a team first character that Nelson, AA & BBD possess. And finally Nelson can be cut and brought back cheap after next year if he fits the back up / mentor role. AA & BBD are very affordable Veterans as spot starter talent and quality back ups. So I say leave the roster as is, providing the #1 goal is to tank...errr player develop.

Well, that would be more compelling if it weren't a rewrite of history. Prior to last year, Orlando had the tenth highest winning percentage in NBA history. Yes, that includes the years after expansion, post-Shaq, heart and hustle (a four year painful run of poor performance), and the early Dwight years.
It can be argued that, prior to the Heat's last two championships, the Magic were the most successful of the recent expansion franchises.
In 24 years the team has had sub-500 records 8 times. This is a team that has been a winner much more than a loser. It's a culture of winning that needs to be embraced.
I get the tanking story. To an extent, I'm totally for doing everything to get Wiggins or even Randle (or whoever winds up atually performing at the college level, which is nothing but a guess at the moment).
But I'm also for winning. If Dipo explodes, Harris picks up where he left off, Vuc takes the next step, and we actually win and have success, that's also something you can build on.
People are ignoring the concept of player development actually leading to improvement and success. We added a potentially very good player in Dipo to an exciting young core. Losing is not - and should not be - a foregone conclusion.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt.LX Offseason Edition)
Just to say this, the whole "we've had four superstars that wanted to leave" is a crock. EVERY team has players that eventually want to leave them, except maybe L.A. and Boston and that's because they have tons of banners in the rafters and are NBA Royalty (as much as I hate it).

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt.LX Offseason Edition)
Can't find it at the moment but someone posted a link to an anti-tanking argument that I think is very compelling. Basically the point is that it is more common to go from middling to contending than from tanking to contending. Should our rookie contracts turn into a middling team this year then I'm all for it as we'll have the cap space to add to the team and get us over the hump into contention.

yea I know but I think he's the first guy in a million years, lol (can't recall if Shaq wanted out or if he was forced out by Kobe).

So you're picking out exceptions to prove the rule? If anything this just shows it happens to every team.
