Hi all just wanted to encourage you to stick with it. I have watched quite a lot of 'Cats games last year as I like McRoberts and well... was curious. Why? Because you have a bucket load of potential in the core with Walker and MKG, in the beginning of the season it even looked to me like Mullins would develop into a player.

Think of Al Jefferson as your David West, seriously. If we hadn't signed West when we did, our youngsters wouldn't have exploded onto the scene, it is alright having a young core but without a more experienced head offering 'pastoral' support and help talk the team through rough patches it doesn't work all that well.

yea Al was brought in to be a mentor and leader for the young guys and with him Charlotte wont get blown out every other game and lose 10 games in a row so that will help keep the young guys moral up and keep them confident, i expect Biz and Zeller to learn a lot from Al and Ewing, especially Biz because he hasn't really had a good bigman mentor besides Haywood (who isn't a good player) now he finally has a HOF player and an All-Star caliber player to help him learn so he should improve a lot

The thing is by saying he's an average drafter writes off the prospects that we have accumulated over the last 3 seasons, Kemba and Biz are about to enter their third season, Gilchrist his second and Cody his first, how have they been proven average picks?

Kemba is great value for a #9 pick, this was an excellent pick, the jury is still out on the rest but the reality is each of them has merit for where they were picked and Gilchrist is going to be better than Drummond imo, I accept and understand why Cho didn't want to trade down and the same goes for Zeller.

The whole swing for the fence thing is great in theory but the fact remains that we are building a TEAM, ignoring obvious red flags and deficiencies in favour of perceived upside is ridiculous imo.

As Charlotte we cannot think that we will just tank forever and get a superstar, we have to look at opportunities to build in the meantime.

Saying things like "if one of these guys turns out to be a truly elite player then all is forgiven" is crazy because we have not had a truly elite player in our whole franchise history...Not a single player picked behind any of our players is truly elite so I have no idea what needs to be forgiven.

I'm not writing off our picks completely, I'm writing them off in comparison to players we could have drafted. Even if we hadn't have explored trade down scenarios (with Cho being a great trader I'm most certain were there) we could be rolling into this season with:

Kemba, Sessions
McLemore, Gordon
Taylor (or Crowder/Draymond if you prefer), Maybe a SF gotten via S&T Hendo (Deng? Chicago was high on Hendo)
Jefferson, McBob
Drummond - Biz

A much more balanced and promising team than what we currently have. Perimeter shooting, fantastic offense by Jefferson, fantastic defense to cover for Jefferson's awful defense in Drummond, great P&R duo in Kemba and Drummond plus that team probably doesn't put it all together this season and we continue to build to it with good picks.

I really like MKG but he's still a wing and wings are much easier to find than franchise changing big men, he can improve his shot and become a top 5 SF but can we put pieces around him now that can make us a winner? Can we contend with a 6'7" great but not elite athlete as our best or 2nd best player? It didn't work with Crash and he was a better athlete and had better size. :dontknow:

I love Kemba but we still don't know if he can facilitate and run the point like an elite PG. I love Biz but obviously it's too soon to really come to a verdict, either way I'm not counting that egg until hatches. Zeller everybody knows I'm not fond of but I'm willing to let him prove me wrong. I'm definitely not counting that egg before it hatches and anointing him a hybrid of Bosh and LMA like everyone is doing on here b/c I watched both of those guys and thought they'd be good pros. I'm not so sure about Zeller. I like Taylor but he's a role player, he has a very small ceiling being a 4 yr college guy.

All I'm really saying is that there is going to have to be some really creative wheeling and dealing and a healthy dose of luck (which as Bobcats' fans we can historically count on as being nonexistent) to make us perennial contenders at the rate this rebuild is going.

I will forgive them for passing on McLemore and then Mayo if they are able to acquire Jeremy Lamb and reunite him with Kemba. But right now there seems to be a hodgepodge plan for the SG position. It really is a puzzle.

I seem to be the only one that thinks that Hendo could be that guy. :-?
Although if we're lucky enough, we could be able to land Wiggins, Parker, Randle, Smart, Exum (really really really hope he comes out next year), or some other rising wing player over the next year or two.

:banghead: :banghead:   :sigh: :sigh: :usa: :usa: :usa:
Well its time we make the move Right Now to Rebuild and Forget Next years draft. :curse: :curse: Let Chicago have the pick!

The reason I 've predicted only 29 wins this year with Al on board is that every team in the NBA has gotten better thru the draft and moving Vets.... Al was a good move ,but he isn't near enough and our 2 and 3 positions are still weak. Hendo wants too much money so trade him and Gordon and address our weaknesses and bench depth and look at the players as players and not the #2,#7 and #5 draft pick prodigies :curse: :curse: WAKE UP!!
Boston is over the contract player limit of 15.

Trade Gordon and Hendo (S/T) for Courtney Lee,Coulton Iverson, and YES Gerald Wallace.

Yes GW has 3 year 30 mil contract owed over next 3 years, but he can still flat out Play. MKG ain't no GForce
CRASH is the greatest Bobcat ever to play the 3 and someday we will retire his jersey to the rafters where it should be.
Lee is a 27 year old experienced vet, better than Hendo at 2, and when sharing MPG with JT both can give us 25-30 ppg/10rpg/5apg.
Iverson is a project but I have watched him in the Dleague and in Orlando and at 7' 255 he is a good option at our center slot playing with AL at 4 in the paint.

So here it is ..We can sit on our Butt and Wish that the 2014 draft has already come and we have the magic ping pong balls. OR We can show the entire NBA that we got balls and make the moves now to WIN AND REBUILD!

MJ/CHO/HIG..THE Time is now!!!!!!!
2013-2014 Roster
KW,Sess,
LEE, JT, Daniels(dleague)
GW,MKG,PewJR,
McBOB,Z-MAN,BIZ
AL,Hay,Colty

AND win 45 games this season and 50 next year and Conf finals next year after that.

PS Cho... tell your scouts to look at Marshall Henderson at OLE Miss. He's currently suspended from the team by coach Andy Kennedy for weed/cocaine possession. He's just a kid who screwed up. He also was MVP of last year SEC Tournament ..6'2' combo guard mpg35,fg%43,3fg% 33% 23.7ppg. You need points ,He'll get them for you.

Bobs... why would you want the clog two key positions for the Cats? MKG and Biz would get limited minutes, and those are the guys we need to develop the most.

Plus Henderson didn't just "mess up" unless messing up includes doing drugs AND getting caught over and over again. The kid has serious problems, and he's going no where until he gets them fixed. A lot of people wouldn't even risk having Cousins on the team because of his attitude, and you're suggesting Henderson? Watch out!

But the Celtics are interested in dumping Crash and K Hump on someone. As much as I would love to see Crash back in Charlotte, it just isn't a good situation for him right now. Not with MKG and Taylor needing minutes.

   :curse: 1. Clogging up 2 and 3?------- the facts are we need points to win. Do you think Biz and MKG will get them for us?. Biz is in his 3rd year and MKG his second. I say bring in Lee to start at 2 and GW to start at 3 and watch our team scoring average go out the roof.

At this junction in his career, while still effective, Wallace is a mere shell of the player who left here several years ago. Courtney Lee, if featured on wing offense for this team may be able to post some strong #s and is a better outside shooter than Hendo but he's hardly a monumental upgrade.

A walker, lee, wallace, Zeller, Jefferson lineup would indeed likely amount to a 40-45 win team. But that's a team that

a) never advances past the first round

b) sacrifices cap flexibility so it cannot add any additional impact players through FA

c) has little hope of adding impact players through the draft since they'll be relegated to picks in the teens each year in exchange for their decision to be a slightly above avg 8th seed doormat.

letting hendo walk is infinitely preferable to that trade. Wallace is a candidate for worst contract in the league. not even sure if Lee is an upgrade over Taylor. theres no reason to do that. maybe if Boston threw in an unprotected 1st rounder for next season or something at least. probably multiple picks would be needed to take on Wallace as much as I love the guy

the idea of drafting Marshall Henderson is too ridiculous to even address

Not a sexy signing but it'll add depth, veteran leadership, and experience to the SF/PF position like we need. Also would probably and sadly spell the end of Hendo.

We could sign Jamison first and still go after Henderson, since we would have access to the mid-level just as long as those two contracts put us over the cap, but it would likely mean renouncing his bird rights and restricted status.

It would make more sense to reach a verbal agreement with Jamison, sign Hendo, and then use part of the mid-level to sign Jamison. This method would keep Henderson restricted.
