Greg Monroe for Harrison Barnes
I'm sure we can get back more from GSW than just Barnes.
I just think the base of the trade helps both teams. In my opinion, this would make us a more complete team. Barnes already has playoff experience and we'd be a true defensive team overnight.
Two questions. What trades would work between GSW and Detroit? Do you like this idea?
Barnes IS expendable after the Igoudala signing. I'm sure Joe even knows it.

What has Barnes proven to show that he will ever become as good as Greg is now? The guy had 1 or 2 good playoff games but in general had a mediocre season. The underrating of Greg Monroe is getting quite tiresome.
There are no potential trades between GSW and DET. If Monroe is going out, it would be in a package with Brandon KNight for S.Curry and GSW would obviously laugh at that idea.
Unless we are getting a star caliber player in return, Monroe is staying put

Re: Greg Monroe for Harrison Barnes
no. you beat the best teams by having one particular identity and strength. ours is going to be that we are bigger and tougher than everyone. those games against the pacers and grizzlies, maybe bulls are going to be some seriously big boy basketball.
by trading monroe and putting smith at PF, it destroys our advantage we have with monroe being able to dominate every other PF in the league offensively. monroes not an awesome defender, but he is a big body, having dre and smith to help him at the rim will help him greatly, as that was his greatest weakness last year, being the center. monroe will be incredibly important to be a no.1 option in the halfcourt, swapping him for barnes will turn us into nothing more than a fastbreak team like the the clippers, without a chris paul or crawford to iso, and thats not a formula for success.

Barnes is a true SF that can shoot. He is athletic. He can also play defense. I disagree with the fact you think Monroe is " underrated ", Monroe has a horrid defensive game and his value is very high right now. As far as trade value goes, I'd say he's a bit overrated. He is also a Center in my opinion, not a Power Forward.
I like Monroe and am fine if we keep him, I just like the idea of grabbing a SF that is young, cheap, and might actually be available.
Do you really want to pay a guy the Max that gets abused on defense?

Re: Greg Monroe for Harrison Barnes
Knight
Kcp
Barnes
Smith
Drummond
We'd have the shooters we need in the starting five. We'd have length. Our defense would be nasty. And man, we'd dunk on EVERYONE!
If Drummond is our "future", this type of team would maximize his potential. Only weak spot that remains is at the point, and if were lucky, maybe Chauncey can teach Knight.

The benefits that Monroe provides- his passing ability, his ability to score in the paint, his rebounding outweigh his medicore defensive. FTR, Monroe is a solid man to man defender, he is a lousy help defender and now that Drummond is alongside him he's perceived defensive woes will become much less significant. Seriously a Smith/Monroe/Drummond frontcourt is gong to be great defensively.
Barnes is a solid shooter, but he's not a sniper and he's average to below average in all other facets of the game. He doesn't have a good handle, he's not great at creating his shot, he's a below average rebounder for his position. Barnes, IMO, projects to be a one dimensional 15-17 ppg scorer, and its true that we could use that kinda of guy on the team- Monroe is already better than that so it shouldn't come at the expense of him.
We can find a F who can shoot anywhere (in FA or via trades) what we cant find is a young bigman capable of putting up 16/10/3 on solid efficiency. Trading Monroe for Barnes is just a lousy idea.

I'd be all over this deal if it was Barnes & Thompson for Moose. We'd still have to move Singler, JJ, and Stuck and I'd be stoked with our team!!! That would be a very complete team.

Re: Greg Monroe for Harrison Barnes
Monroe should be very close to 18/9 this year if not more. I used to think that greg needed to be traded bc of his defensive woes, but joe dumars has surrounded him (michell, smith,Drummond) with defensive monsters, man, greg won't have to do much but stay in front of his man and let the other boys do the work.
Monroe will be an all Allstar power forward in a few years bc he provides an array of offensive skill that is rare in the league and he is willing to be great. With that positive attitude and mentality, there is no question, he will continue to grow.
In the playoffs, when buckets are hard to come by, it's usually the skilled big men who can score on tough defenses. I see this part of Greg's game being valuable for post-season play.

Yeah, that would be a nasty team. May even get out of the first round. But GSW likely says no.

Re: Greg Monroe for Harrison Barnes
Fischella's a ridiculous poster. Nobody should pay attention to him as he's just trying to depress us about our feeling about this team.
Now, as to Monroe for Barnes, put me on record as loving both these players. My first instinct is to not make a move like this now. I believe Monroe, Smith and Drummond could be great in the same lineup, or by using Smith 30 mpg at PF since Monroe and Dre have to rest at least that much every game (combined). I think they could work great together, either way, and we'll always have dominant shot blocking, rebounding, pounders and scorers in the paint, and passers in there.
But Barnes could be an all-star true SF. He's a super athlete, and can defend and score the ball. Absolutely a case can be made that he'd be a wonderful fit with this Pistons team. I'd love to have him.
Monroe vs. Barnes for the Pistons is a legitimate discussion. And I think Monroe vs. Barnes for the Warriors is a legitimate discussion as well. Monroe is a young team leader for us, so I wouldn't do this deal right now, but it's very much worth keeping in mind as the seasons go along. Also, that discussion depends at least in part on how guys like Singler and Middleton develop. I'm on record as believing that Middleton could become a star in his own right, and Singler could be an ultimate glue guy on a championship team.

Singler's talent is a dime a dozen. Plus, he faded hard and never recouped as the season finished

Good joke.
No way would I trade Monroe for Barnes and anyone that would is seriously underrating Monroe, and this is coming from a big Barnes fan. Sorry but I just don't think you trade a 23 year old 16/10/3 bigman for a guy who had a solid rookie year playing alongside guys who allowed him to just play defense and let his offense come to him. And no, Barnes is not an elite athlete. He's an elite leaper and a very explosive dunker but in terms of body control, quickness, speed and coordination he is not elite athletically. Prime Dwyane Wade is a perfect example of an elite athlete...excellent body control, speed, quickness, and coordination. Barnes is a good athlete. Definitely has some upside but I don't see him as a perennial all star.
Our biggest strength is suppose to be our twin towers. Why break that up before we even have a chance to see them start together?
