Dirk Nowitzki

Post#1 » by inquisitive » Mon Jul 8, 2013 5:29 am

I think Morey should call Cuban about warming Dirk to the possibility of a trade with us. Dirk wants another chance to win a ring and i don't see Lebron or Bosh leaving in 2014 and don't see any other free agent coming in 2014 to help Dirk win a ring. We know Cuban respects Dirk alot and vice-versa. If Dirk was open to being traded to a contender, why not with Rockets? I still believe he has 2-3 good years left. He doesn't have to do any heavy duty lifting...H & H will do all that...we just need Dirk to stretch the defenses with his shooting.

If the Mavs don't play well early this coming season, they might just concede to a full rebuild mode. I think if we have an initial offer of Asik(center for Mavs as part of rebuild), plus one of our young PFs, and several picks(1st, 2nd, etc) , that would get interest.

Houston is only a 45 minute flight to Dallas, so Dirk won't be far from home. I believe he is married and with a young kid(?)...kinda like the Nash situation in LA and Phoenix. I believe it would be the best situation for him. I recall last year that Cuban was open to the idea of trading Dirk if he had asked Mark about it. I just think Morey should give it a try and initiate the contact with Cuban...then Cuban can talk it over with Dirk to get his feelings about this.Thoughts?

well, i only brought it up cause the chances of getting LMA or KLove are even more remote this year, but i could see why Cuban wouldn't send him to a divisional rival.

Cuban would never do it because he doesn't wanna help houston + his love and loyalty to Dirk. He wants Dirk's number up in the rafters.

Even if it was something enticing like Asik, picks, prospects, he wouldn't do it. Cuban is a man of pride.

Cuban would hate to see Dirk in the Finals wearing onther teams jersey.

I think there are some fairly well understood rules around here. No ex-Jazz, no ex-Mavs.

Doesn't have anything to do with Cuban's feelings about Houston or any other team, for that matter. In Dallas, Dirk is royalty, like Bird was royalty in Boston. Cubes will do everything in his power to ensure that Dirk retires a Mav, as he should. He has been a rare player and his legacy would be tarnished if he ever put on another uniform. It would be the worst kind of travesty, given his loyalty and his value to the organization and the city.

I'm not saying that Dirk is Bird, but Dirk is our Bird, our Reggie Miller. He should never suit up for anyone else ...

We thought Hakeem would retire as a Rocket but that didn't happen.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Yep. And I think that's a shame, too.
