I see what you're trying to do here. If putting together a very traditional team this move makes some sense. However I'm down with our current approach of trying something unique. Our front line is a beast right now.

Yep. And having beasty front-line, is a great way to compete against the Miami's.

I'd do it, when Monroe wants $60 mil next year and Barnes is still on a rookie contract, lot more people will want to also.

I wouldn't do it. Monroe is better than Barnes and nothing suggests to me that Barnes will be better than him.

Prince of palace and big shot nailed it here. Anyone who thinks Barnes is anywhere close to Monroe's level hasn't seen Barnes play. Barnes was among the worst wings in the NBA who played significant minutes last season. And his 'breakout' games against the spurs--the two games when he scored more than twenty points-- were actually just games where the defense loaded up on Curry and left him alone. In those two games, he took 18 and 26 shots.

His advanced stats last year were bad too--PER of 11, barely triple digit offensive rating. He was much worse than ho-hum wing shooters like Martell Webster and Brandon Rush. He was a rookie so there's no need to judge him to harshly but his game is still as limited as people worried during the draft process. Pretty tall, pretty good stroke, decent athleticism is still what he is as a prospect. He could become someone like Luol Deng on offense, but he's not there and Monroe's already well beyond that level (on offense that is).

Funny I proposed barnes and Thompson for Monroe a yr ago and many here didnt like it. I would consider the duo but not for just Barnes.

Monroe seemed to have a success as a stretch 4.

I would rather see something centered around Kawahi Leanord. Elite defense, elite efficiency, elite rebounder, knocks down the 3, experience with a great team, and capable of producing a lot more if given a larger role imho.
