Re: The Brandon Jennings Conundrum (who has cap space left?)
I wonder if Jennings is another Z-Bo, 'Sheed etc. Possibly a Cousins. Plenty talented but need to play for a good coach for them to tune in.
This is probably why we should never target talented headcases - the 'Milwaukee Effect'. As in, 'I'm too good for this team.'

Unfortunately that also normally requires them to be about 29 Jez. It also helps if they have always had elite skills that they just haven't used properly until that point.

Maybe he's waiting until he's 29 to use that elite speed I keep hearing about? Maybe he starts making buckets at the rim then?

Re: The Brandon Jennings Conundrum (who has cap space left?)
I have said over and over again he is closer to Lou Williams/Nick Young (take a look at his RFA season stats) than he is any of the PGs he likes to compare himself to. And that is what the market is telling him now as well.
And he is in a BAD situation right now. He has NO leverage AT ALL. And he has spent the last 5 months torching the bridge to the only team that seems to have any willingness to pay him. Hammond has him completely over a barrel. HE doesn't want to sign a 4/30 deal but if Hammond gives him any more than that he is a fool because there isn't anyone else in the league who is going to offer more and he can match anything less. I'm hopeful that he has just told BJ's new (and soon to be ex) agent to go and find the best offer he can and that we will think about it over three days and decide whether to match.

Re: The Brandon Jennings Conundrum (who has cap space left?)
If we sign Jennings at all, I'll be angry;
If we sign him for more than we offered Teague per year I'll be livid! (unless its part of a prearranged S&T)
I agree, this off-season is a disaster to date!
I appraise commercial real estate for a living. The leaders in retail, when looking for new sites, decide on a site (based on their particular analytics) and then they buy it! It maybe, and usually is, at a higher price than most other sales, but they trust the plan by trusting the analytics, along with the people that derive and execute the plan. These companies that I'm referring to are extremely effective and successful. The Bucks are the polar opposite, and this off-season is a perfect example of the failure of this organization.

I'm still good with a longer deal at FMV for Jennings and then call it a summer.

Makes sense as Nebs did say he'd be good once he signed his 3rd contract.

It is my understanding that no other team offered him anything so what is the FMV for a player that nobody seems to want?

Just because it's not in a wiretap doesn't mean there aren't discussions. Also I still maintain that Jennings will improve into his second and third contracts.
Some like Jennings, some don't. It's all good.

Well Morey just signed BJ Young who went undrafted out of Arkansas after just signing Canaan.

I think everyone agrees he will get better over the next 7 years. How much and what is it worth is the question.
So, if you were the Bucks what would you pay him over how many years?

Does everyone agree that he will get better? I don't know if I do.
Jennings defense has regressed every season. We all worried about his defense coming in as a rookie and then he surprised us all. Now all he does is poke at the ball and make zero attempt at man to man defense. It's no wonder there are really no other teams interested in him.
His entire mindset will have to change if he wants to progress and improve. He's soft playing defense and he's soft going to the rim. Both of those things will have to change quickly. The kids been in the league for a while already.

He's worth 6th man money. 3 years, $18 million sounds about right. There's a chance of upside. Throw in some incentives for more.

I'd go something like 4/32 and think he's probably in that 7-10M per range.

Re: The Brandon Jennings Conundrum (who has cap space left?)
I haven't wadded through every page of every thread, but isn't a sign-BJ-and-trade-him-for-Teague still a possibility? Marc Stein on ESPN seems to think so:
Marc Stein: But putting offer sheet into play could also trigger ramped-up Bucks & Hawks talks on sign-and-trades. MIL happy to send Jennings OR Monta Twitter @ESPNSteinLine July 10, 2013
Obviously, the question is would the Hawks agree to that? If BJ would accept a similar contract to Teague (4/32) from us, maybe we could still get this done.

I like the idea of incentives. They need to give Jennings an NFL type deal, if they give him one at all. I'm not sure how NBA deals can be broken down exactly, however.
If he wants max money -> play like a max player -> reach your max incentives.
Maybe that will get him to shoot over 40% and cause him to play team ball.

You seriously think Jennings is worth upwards of $10 mil?

Nebula is just overreaching with his undying, inexplicable love for BJ. Maybe he's watching different games than the rest of us because in the ones I watch, BJ hurts the team and doesn't make anyone better. And he's been in the league 4 full-seasons not showing any growth whatsoever as a player. Just speechless.
We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

Relative to how the NBA operates? Sure. I think 10M is [desperately] very high side and personally think he's closer to 6-8M per for FMV, thus 4/32.

Re: The Brandon Jennings Conundrum (who has cap space left?)
Sign him to the QO.
At that price, he should be tradeable, even if you have to wait to nearer the dealine, when injuries could make him a more desirable choice for a contender. I realize he can veto a trade, but right now, it may be sinking in that he's not in real demand. He needs to go somewhere else to get his career back on track.

Re: The Brandon Jennings Conundrum (who has cap space left?)
my max is jennings 4/26.... slightly better than mle money.
if he says no tell him to stick it. let him sign the QO.
then go get mo williams to play the 3 gaurd rotation with mayo and ridnour. offer big money on a 1 year deal.... let jennings rot behind them until he can work out a deal elsewhere.
this shouldnt be this hard.
