Everyone keeps mentioning the bank shot but I really don't want him working on that. It looks cool when it goes in but there is hardly any jumpshot where using the backboard is better for an NBA player to use. Its good at the lower levels where players can't shoot as well and its good from in close. At any kind of range you're almost always better off just shooting it in straight.
Your emotions fuel the narratives that you create. You see what you want to see. You believe what you want to believe. You ascribe meaning when it is not there. You create significance when it is not present.

I think when people call the midrange jumper the least efficient shot in basketball, they forget that only applies to if its equally defended as the layup and three pointer are. I'd still take a wide open 2 over a well defended drive or 3, and that's what a lot of the shots Wade has been passing up are, wide open.
Consequently, if he starts taking and making those open 2's, they will be forced to play him honest, which opens up the drive much more once again.

Mid-range game is one of the most undervalued areas in the game by young players. Most kids that come out of college are either long distance shooters (3pt shooters) or slashers (drives to basket). Don't get me wrong, both are great skills to have but most players never develop a mid-range game to enhance their biggest skill or just are too good at the other two that they become lazy at developing the mid-range.
I always thought Wade was deadly from mid-range all the way to the basket since he entered the league. I believe because of injuries, his movements are not the same as they were at 25-26 years old and he is struggling with the adjustments needed hurting his confidence.
I would never question Wade's desire though. If he can find a way to consistently adjust his mid-range game to where he can catch-and-shoot comfortably (a la Rip Hamilton) or set his feet to where he can shoot and/or use his classic pump-fake to drive, he can add life to his career.
IMO, injuries has slowed him down and his development over the last 2 seasons. Staying healthy should be his priority. I wouldn't count him out though.
