"That's (Siva) my point guard." Drummond quote.

Post#1 » by ERudited » Mon Jul 15, 2013 6:45 pm

From an article in The Detroit News today, Andre Drummond was quoted as saying this about Peyton Siva: "That's my point guard. I keep telling him not to worry about making the team. He'll be here."

If Drummond is as important to the franchise as many have suggested here, do his wishes have any effect on management's decisions in regard to Siva making the 2013-14 roster??

He also called him his favorite PG on twitter. I think he'll make the team.

Not gonna put a ton of stock into this....Drummond's just a nice guy and it sounds like he and Siva had fun down in Orlando.

I'm not reading too much into this. They are probably just friends now. However, Siva should be worried about being cut only because of the limited roster spots.

Yep. He's going to be 26 before the season starts, we've made our FA moves, they are going to waive him and eat the salary.

If we were gonna cut Siva wouldn't we have done so already? Like English?

No. English contract would have been guaranteed the next day when we cut him, Siva doesn't even have a contract yet, all we got are his draft rights.

Cut Stuckey and Slava and have a spot open for a potential 2 for 1 trade.

Sorry to bother you.

Because he only tries sometimes, is a baby, and doesn't do anything to help this team. As for not being possible - fine, but in no way does he deserve to wear Pistons attire. I honestly would rather Kim English eating up backup guard minutes for 8x less the price.

Is he our next target of undeserved hype like Slava, English, Middleton, Stuckey, Knight, Jerebko, Maxiell, etc.?

Regardless of everything you just listed, its not an actual solution. So that's kinda my point.

I'm sure Siva and Drummond got along fine down in Orlando. There just are not a lot of spots, especially after Bynum and Chauncey got signed. Still a lot of time available for trades, as well as finding a nice team in Europe for Siva to play for, for the next year.

IF we were going to cut Stuckey we would have done it when he would have cost us $4.5mil less as he was only $4mil guaranteed until July 1st.

IF we cut him now we would be paying the entire contract so yea, we would have already done it if that was the plan.

Slava also would have cost less to have already cut by $1mil as he was only $500k guaranteed.

Those ships have sailed.

Even beyond that you can't "cut" Stuckey. A buyout is something he would have to agree to and it certainly would be more than the amount he would've gotten if it was done before July 1.
