I'm starting to agree. It's going to be hard to distribute minutes in the backcourt this upcoming season with Kemba Walker, Ramon Sessions, & Ben Gordon, and it's very uncertain that Henderson is the starter at SG in the future. Charlotte might as well save that money for 2014 free agency, sign a couple of 1-year contracts for this offseason, and let Taylor start at SG

If these players are available it gives us even more veteran presence. Nazr, Marquis Daniels, Shaun Livingston, and Greg Oden.

Nazr and Livingston aren't available. They were signed this offseason. I don't like Daniels like that and Oden shouldn't be considered a veteran presence.

good game. happy to see consistency with taylor and zeller. mkg played great defense. biz was solid in the paint. his rebounding looks good. that hustle block was amazing. biz also looks bigger.

I not sure why everybody is hating on Biz for rebounding. He has been a beast on the boards with 7, 11, and 11 rebounds in his three summer league games and that is playing around 26 minutes.

Yeah his offense has been a bit disgusting, but with the Zeller, Jefferson, McBob and possibly Jamison in the frontcourt then Biz does not need to score. Yeah hopefully he starts to find some more offense later in the season, but it is not a big rush...

yea Biz has only been playing since he was 16....his current abilities are pretty good for starting that late..most players start when they are in middle school which is around 12yrs old

Also, some things I have been noticing over summer league that other people have not really emphasized...

Taylor is getting to the line a lot. I wish he was finishing more of those bunnies, but he has done a good job of going towards contact then trying to finish away from it. Also, people have been fouling him a lot on his jumpers, idk if that is cuz he has a weird release or something, but it seems like its 2 or 3 times a game.

MKG put the straps on Leslie today. after Leslie had a few nice plays on Zeller we adjusted and he was not heard from again.

I feel like we are miss using Daniels right now... I think he is forcing too many jumpers. We need to get him going off screens and cause his defender to help from the corner. I feel like he is a knock down shooter, but he hasnt been getting good looks.

I have been underwhelmed by Sims. I thought he was a bit more agile, but he seems sluggish and I have not been impressed with his offense. I thought he was a bit more of a finished product, but even his rebounding is pretty average.

Our third point guard, is not on our roster. Maybe if we could combine all three together to have a Frankenstein point guard, but I dont think we take any of them. If we could have Triche size and shooting, mixed with Gaddys facilitating, and Dysons handles and quickness then we would have something, but all have major holes. Gaddy and Dyson both have broke jumpers...

Am I the only who kinda likes Ewing Jr.???? He is kind of sneaky athletic on rebounds and defense. He has a pretty confident jumper and decent size to play both Forwards. He does tend to slack on a play here or there I have noticed, but its not bad. Also, he has nice intangibles as far as passing and just making smart plays such as drawing and taking fouls. His handle is a little weak, but I haven't ruled him out yet.

which is exactly what he's expected to be doing. to quote Clifford:
"Right now, I want him to concentrate on being a great rebounder and get his rebounding numbers up and anchor our defense," Clifford said. "Be great with his talk and help us get organized."

They will worry about the offence later, let him become a solid defensive role player first, then see if the offence will come.

I think Biz can be a Ben Wallace type player they are the same size and for his career Ben averaged

5.7pts 9.6reb 2blks and 1.3stls and he was a 41% FT shooter and had a 47% FG%

Biz should be able to average those stats and so far in his career Biz has actually did better than Ben did through his 1st 2 seasons and Ben was 22 when he entered the NBA and Biz was barely 19

it took Ben 5 seasons before he had a break out year when he averaged 6.4ppg and 13.2reb

just be patient with Biz he has loads of potential and as of right now has an All-Star caliber PF/C and a HOF Center to help him learn

that was sort of my point, we're not going to see an offensive break out this year.
Biz will probably come off the bench and play defence, thats about it. Hopefully we now can take our time in letting him develop, not expecting him to be a starting centre

I think JMAC is actually Patrick Ewing. Ewing was probably coming in for an interview around the same time that JMAC went in for his "interview" and leaked our majorly **** up draft board.

Good post. This is why in the first SL thread I said that all I wanted to see was Biz look more comfortable and not necessarily a big uptick in stats. Rebounding and defense is definitely all he needs to worry about, the offense and catching is only going to come with lots of game experience, when the D and rebounding become 2nd nature.

I was out of town and missed the last 2 games so I have a question about the game against Dallas (the 2nd game). In the game thread it sounded like Biz was horrible but his box score looks pretty nice and he's been a very consistent positive in PER (which is impressive considering his offense is anemic and the relative lack of talent on the roster) which is the biggest flame of hope for me right now. Is he getting a lot of touches or just bobbling the few he gets?

speaking of 3rd point guards. i dont understand why the team wouldnt just bring pargo back. god knows we need shooting. pargo works hard, is coachable, seems ok with backup duty, and comes cheap.

Probably want to give the young guys a run first before going back to the old guy. Mucho Jannero was solid, but what if we find someone better between now and training camp?

According to Clifford and Bonnell, MKG, Taylor, Biz, and Zeller might not get many minutes the rest of the way so that the others can play. Disappointing, I hope Zeller still gets 30 minutes a game.

We are guaranteed 2 games and probably will get a first round bye, which means not til Thursday or Friday.

Worth noting that - aside from our four contract guys - Dyson is the only guy averaging over 20 minutes per night. Ewing's 20 minutes tonight was the only other time a player exceeded 20 minutes in a game, while Dyson has exceeded that every game.

JT and Zeller seem to be getting the most exposure, pushing 30 per night, while MKG, Biz, and Dyson manage about 25. Not really crazy about the idea, but I wouldn't be surprised if Dyson ends up as our 3rd PG.

I'd like to see more of Daniels, you can never have too many shooters, and he looks like a good one.

This is kinda what I was getting at earlier: while JT and Zeller seem to have free reign to just play assertive in summer league, MKG (his shot) and Biz (defense/rebounding) seem to have specific assignments for these games.

I didn't expect him to be as good as he was considering that he was a veteran we picked up in February and those guys usually don't give more than 5 garbage minutes in blow-outs.

Pargo would still be useful for playoff teams as a spark plug, imo.
