Who is our starting SG? Crawford or Redick?

Post#1 » by PG3 » Sat Jul 13, 2013 3:41 pm

Both are talented guards in their own aay, but both seem to fit better off the bench. Redick played most of his career not starting. Crawford was a starter in his early years but found his niche by being a 6th man.

Redick. Doc loves Redick, and will want to employ him coming off of ball screens the same way he did with Ray Allen in Boston. Crawford is a better creator off the dribble and shoot type of player, and a high-energy sixth-man is his ceiling.

I'm fine with Crawford remaining on the bench, but his minutes better not be cut too much. He should still be playing at least 25 minutes a game. He is such an explosive offensive player and he has very good chemistry with Barnes.

would't make sense to start Crawford.
Collison - Crawford - Barnes off the bench just makes sense. Crawford is the guy with the ball in his hands creating (as long as he doesn't go into his human isolation mode)

Redick...easily.

lol at Crawford.
if he's not coming off the bench, i don't want him on the team at all tbh.

I don't think anyone expects Crawford to start, Redick is just a better fit with the starting unit, and Crawford makes more sense on the bench, even though Doc isn't going to use him as an iso heavy guard like Vinny did.

I still say Ryan Hollins deserves a look. Work all summer on his 3 ball and he'd be unguardable as a 7 footer making it rain

Redick

I think Crawford is still tripping about the starting spot. He's just more of an effective weapon off of the bench. He was recently asked on Twitter the other day if he thinks he can score 50 again. He said, if he starts. Assuming he gets similar minutes, he'd get less touches as a starter while having to play against better competition. Either way he's not getting 38-39mpg.

Redick will probably get it over him just so we can be explosive off the bench with Collison/Crawford/Barnes.

Redick has to start, he is much better off the ball than Crawford is and when playing along side Chris Paul that is the ideal type of 2 guard.

the more time i give it to ponder, the more i think it maybe the right time to trade jamal for a equal value of a bench big as somebody else has suggested already. we have a glut of guards who can score, as CP3/collison/JJ/green/bullock are enough to carry the load in the back along with barnes and dudley, but we lack behind blake up front. we don't need a disgruntled 6th man in jamal who doesn't play defense and creating drama wanting to start.
ehhhhh f it.

Craw is better than anything we could fetch for him. He's an ideal and pro scorer off the bench. Him w DC and Matty B I don't want any of them leaving.
IMO just bring back LO assuming he's in shape and find someone else and we will be fine.

I was a big fan of JJ when he was here in ORL. He never did get the starting spot over Afflalo, but I foresee him as being just a really great fit in your Starting Lineup this year. He'll give you good defensive effort and awareness, he often just lacks the wingspan and size to go up against some of the longer, more athletic 2s in the league.

I think he'll surprise you guys with his ball security, his high IQ, and his ability to initiate the PnR when Paul's not on the court.

I actually really like your guys' roster up and down. You get another back-up big for insurance and I feel like you're set for a top 3 seed in the west if everything comes together well. Excited to have a western conference team this year in you guys.

Think JJ starts for sure the chemistry with Crawford and Matt Barnes works

Crawford will be the heart of the bench only guy who can create consistently for himself and others.
