Stay Put - Playing Time
OK...so assuming we don't make a move prior to the year starting. What would you like to see for playing time to kick the year off. We know that there is possibly a trade in the works, so I am working from the thought of moving parts around later in the year.
pg - cbill(20)/knight(28)
sg - kcp(20)/stuckey(28)
sf - smith(10)/middleton(20)/datome(18)
pf - monroe(16)/smith(24)/cv(8)
c - drummond(32)/monroe(16)
dnp - bynum/singler/mitchell/slava/jj
overseas - siva
I figured we would showcase Stuckey for a while. CV I think plays a role this year as a stretch 4 for spacing until we make some type of deal. Then maybe Mitchell can play a little bit.
What do you all think/want to see if this happens.

What a WANT to see (below) -- is likely very different from what we WILL see
Knight(30) / Billups(18)
KCP(28) / Middleton(20)
Smith(12) / Datome(18) / Singler(18)
Monoe(16) / Smith(20) / Mitchell(12)
Drummond(32) / Monroe(16)

Re: Stay Put - Playing Time
Terrence Williams can solve the Pistons roster issue.
Danny Ainge and Doc Rivers identify him as a point guard.
Williams can start and let Knight be a scoring guard.
Billups and KCP the primary guard back ups.
I dislike mix videos with music...but

Williams would have been a much better FA signing than Bynum.

He was pretty bad when we tried him and Flynn out last year.

Yup. I have no idea why people are so fascinated with him.

Cheeks talks about Stuckey a lot. I expect him to get a good amount of PT when the season begins.

Re: Stay Put - Playing Time
I don't understand how people can think that Moose, Dre and Smoove are only going to be on the court for 12-15mpg together. Those are by far our best 3 players and they will be on the court atleast 20-24mpg together.
My prediction/hopes on minute break down.
PG: Billups (30) - Knight (12) - Bynum (6)
SG: Knight (24) - KCP (24)
SF: Smith (24) - Singler/Gigi (24)
PF: Monroe (24) - Smith (12) - Mitchell (12)
C: Dre (30) - Monroe (12) - Krav (6)
You could cut Bynum and Krav out of the rotation and give Dre and Billups 36mpg if they can handle it.

In a perfect world, JSMoove will improve his shot and merit the additional time at SF....
But reality is, he's not a great fit on the court next to both Monroe/Dre. Especially for half the game or more. All three guys do their best work in the paint.

I just think that they will be playing in different rotations, but not much together. Shooters needed to make that work better.
I like this and could see bynum and slava being the odd men out in the rotation, but I think it means more time for CV and Stuckey...at least to start the year. Not bad!

I think the frontcourt rotation is pretty predictable but I have no idea about the backcourt rotation. Heck, we don't even know who's starting yet.

Re: Stay Put - Playing Time
I already know whos starting, and its obvious
Billups
Knight
Smith
Moose
Drumstick
I hope Knight bombs out at 2-gaurd. I know that's a terrible thing to say, I just believe that its a horribly stupid idea to start him at the SG slot.
I want Pope to start. Rookie or not, he is exactly what this team needs. A shooter, from anywhere on the floor.
Either that or he plays so damn good off the bench, they have to start starting him.
The whole start of the season we will be horrific if Knight starts at the SG spot, and every team will exploit him to death. Why? They cant exploit anywhere else really, so do the obvious thing.
*SIGH* im just going to have to accept that this is the way its going to be. I guess its better then Knight/Stuckey back-court....

Re: Stay Put - Playing Time
This Billups thing is going to be a huge mistake if he comes in thinking he's going to pick right back up where he left off. This was the problem with keeping these guys around when we had to start rebuilding a few years ago. None of them are willing to take a back seat even as their skills rapidly decline.
Knight needs to be playing point guard. Lots of it. Chauncey can come in, back him up, and help him along. Anything beyond that will just be a setback for BK.

PG: Bynum only should play in the event of injury...
Billups = 18
Knight = 20
Stuckey = 10
SG = Middleton only plays in the event of an injury
Knight 10
K.C.P = 20
Stuckey = 18
SF = Jerebko should only play in the event of injury
Smith = 15
Singler = 20
Datome = 13
PF = Mitchell only plays in the event of injury/garbage time/development
Monroe = 15
Smith = 20
CV = 13
C = Slava only plays if disaster strikes
Drummond = 28
Monroe = 20
9-man rotation... with Bynum, Jerebko and Slava "active"... Middleton and Mitchell dominate the D-League

Knight would be guarding PGs with Chauncey in the game. Otherwise you'd be getting burned at both backcourt spots (plus @PF... But that's a different story).

Re: Stay Put - Playing Time
Ok... here's a rotation that features Monroe (34), Smith (36), Drummond (28)... and they're only on the floor for 7 minutes per half!
Start all of them!...
Drummond, Monroe, Smith play together for 4 minutes... Drummond sits... Singler comes into the game
Monroe, Smith, Singler play together for until Monroe and Smith sit with 3 minutes left in the first...Drummond comes in for Monroe obviously... CV comes in for Smith
Drummond, CV, Singler play out the quarter
Start of the 2nd we're running Drummond, CV, Singler - they'd be facing a lot of 2nd stringers so no real drama there...
with 9 minutes left in the 2nd Singler sits... I just played him 11 minutes straight... if dude gets abused you can throw Middletone or Jerebko or Datome out there and see how they go... Smith comes back in for Singler
Drummond, CV and Smith now in the game... but not for long.... they play together for a minute at which point Datome or Middleton comes into the game for CV... and Monroe comes in for Drummond
Monroe, Smith and Datome/Middleton play together for 5 minutes until Drummond comes back into the game with 3 minutes remaining in the 2nd
Drummond, Monroe and Smith play out the half
I think this works... will have to check my notes
