With Chauncey here we would have the recruiting power, and with a core of Drummond, Smith, and Rondo we'd have the talent to attract him, as well as a need at his position. Also, Sheed would help in the recruiting having played with him last year in a NY. It would probably take dumping some of our smaller contracts like Knight, Jerebko, Singler, Bynum, etc to total up the space to make him a max offer, but that should be doable and if we can come away with a starting lineup of Rondo/KCP/Carmelo/Smith/Drummond, and then fill out our bench with minimum contracts I'd take that any day over keeping Moose/Knight + role players (Jerebko/Singler/Bynum). I think most assumed this was our one summer to hit big in FA, but we may have max money to spend next year as well. The Smith signing may be just the beginning.

Screw carmelo lets get lebron lol.

lol, to be honest if he wanted to leave Miami and we got Rondo, we could have as attractive a situation as any team courting him. That said Carmelo is the more realistic option of the two, even if both are longshots. I wouldn't dismiss the effect Billups could have though on Carmelo, and if Drummond has a monster year other stars may want to come here just to play with him.

I was actually thinking about it yesterday, if lebron were to leave miami and say we have a pretty good season this year and make the playoffs and drummond looks like a beast then why not us? With the pieces we have right now if im a superstar small forward the pistons look pretty attractive. I would be willing to let moose walk if carmelo or lebron somehow signed here. Lebron has never had a team that could be potentially this good at defense and you add him into the mix and that would be an amazing team, a man can dream right lol.

I agree, and he's also never played with any great bigs. After teaming with a great guard like Wade who is now on the decline, he may decide he wants to play the next chapter of his career with a great young big man instead. I think Drummond and LeBron sat together courtside at the dunk contest. Maybe they're already planning ahead

My prediction/hopes on minute break down.

PG: Billups (30) - Knight (12) - Bynum (6)
SG: Knight (24) - KCP (24)
SF: Smith (24) - Singler/Gigi (24)
PF: Monroe (24) - Smith (12) - Mitchell (12)
C: Dre (30) - Monroe (12) - Krav (6)

You could cut Bynum and Krav out of the rotation and give Dre and Billups 36mpg if they can handle it.

because it does not work

And we know that how? This is our team make up and like it or not they are going to be on the court together. We aren't benching Moose or Dre just so Smith can play PF and we certainly aren't having Smith sit after paying him 54mil.

I'll honestly be surprised if Dre play more than 28-30 minutes a game, on average.

I agree with you about the frontcourt but not the backcourt.

I think billups will start and knight will back him up at pg and hopefully he can play really good so he can takeover as the starter, and kcp should start at sg because of his shooting abillity and have stuckey back him up.

How do you see the back court going?
