Yes. All Spo has to do is play him VERY little in the reg season to keep him healthy.

All we need him for is the playoffs.

Camby doesn't hate the Heat, he almost came here the past offseason and that's a fact. I don't believe we have interest in him though, we have Birdman who's a better younger version of him. We're only looking at Oden for the potential upside he brings, I've hard no rumours we've even looked at Dalembert either. So I'm sure that we're happy with the Birdman/Bosh combo at center, with Oden potentially being a really good pickup.

Why the heck would Camby hate the Heat?

And yeah, he had interest in Miami and was rumored a lot, though he ended up going for the moolah.

You can call Birdman a younger/better version of him, but what he does is add depth. He's an upgrade over Juwan Howard. Adding a center who might not play much... Is still better than not picking up anyone at all.

Knicks forward Marcus Camby talked on Thursday about how close he was to becoming a member of the Heat this offseason. The Heat plays the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Friday.

“I was going on the plane to Miami when Allan [Houston], Glen [Grunwald] and [Mike Woodson] came down to Houston,” Camby said. “That’s how close I was. I had a good talk with coach Riley on the phone. We talked for an extended period of time about them wanting me to come down there. In hindsight, I felt I was always a Knick at heart.”

Confirming reports by @Jared Zwerling and others of Heat interest in Marcus Camby. Not a surprise. They pursued him last summer.

Q: Can the Heat make a run at Marcus Camby? -- Rene, Miami.

A: Sure, if he clears waivers after his buyout from the Raptors. If you'll recall, the Heat were looking at Camby a year ago, before they eventually moved toward Ray Allen and ran out of the type of cap space Camby was seeking. The question now is whether, with the Heat moving toward small ball, there would be room for Camby in Erik Spoelstra's rotation, with Chris Bosh and Chris Andersen already in place. And it's not as if Camby has shown an enthusiasm with banging inside with the type of big men that have given the Heat problems. Plus, there is the question of what, if anything, Camby has left, considering the Knicks saw no need last season.
