The difference between our bench and the Nets bench is that we have depth... they have 1 guy to play each position and if someone gets injured that guy has to start!
If Singler gets injured we've got enough players that are capable of filling in. If AK47 gets injured who do the Nets have? If Terry gets injured who do the Nets have?
You can't just expect aging vets to log 36+ minutes every night.... unless you want to risk injuring them too!
The Nets have quality players everywhere... that starting 5 could be insane! AK47 had a great season for Minny when he was playing, Terry is awesome, Evans is a rebounding beast and Blatche is more than capable... but beyond that they have.... who?
Time will tell but IF I was a Net fan at this point I'd be concerned about a lack of depth for the regular season. They could still sign some guys to fill out the roster though... it's only July!
That's my opinion... and while it's flawed (you win with your starters!) ideally you have some depth so you can get your aging vets quality rest when the season starts to wear on them
Look at the Spurs.... they've mastered that part of the equation... even if Stern doesn;t like it!

Re: Playoff Locked Teams
Only lock teams in the East:
Miami
Chicago
Indiana
Brooklyn
NYK is no lock... I don't know what people see in NYK. Melo is one-dimensional, Amare has underperformed, and Chandler is their only defender.
I'm going to say the Pistons get #5 and play BK in the first round.
BK's depth is insane. They are a problem even if they get injuries.
For their old guys: you have Kirilenko backing up Paul Pierce and Blatche backing up KG. That's serious depth.
The only way we beat BK in a series is if we let KCP and Datome develop their confidence in their defense and shooting in the regular season. Our bigs can handle theirs and Drummond/Monroe will be the difference. Smith will guard Joe Johnson if he becomes a problem. Could be a first round shocker if Pistons pull it out.

You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.

There are 5 locks.
You can certainly poke holes in the Nets and the Knicks, but even if I accept those they're still a clear cut above the tier below them.

I'd say that this is about right except I think that IF the Cavs can stay healthy they could be Playoff Contenders.

Time will tell but IF I was a Net fan at this point I'd be concerned about a lack of depth for the regular season. They could still sign some guys to fill out the roster though... it's only July!
that part of the equation... even if Stern doesn;t like it!
Seems like you're really reaching, pharaoh. You asked what would happen if everyone of their bench guys got injured! lol: Every team would be in some trouble if that happened... and the nets would actually be in much less trouble than most given their quality staying five. They have 9 good to very good nba players (at least based on last season), and 4-5 more guys who belong in the league. We have 3-4 good nba players, another 5 or so who belong in the league, and a handful of guys who still have to prove their roster filler. Their 13th man, Mirza Teletovic, might have played 25 -30 minutes per night for us last year (he posted much better efficiency and advanced stats than Singler last year).

No, that's not what I said... I said if someONE from their bench got injured....
But it's all good. I stated my case... don't want to argue about the Nets for a page or so... they're the NETS!

Switch Detroit to the 6 and Washington to 7 then this chart will be perfect...I don't know why the Wizards get over-hyped every off-season, and I actually like the Wizards...
