Although, it would be intesting to have 4 great 3pt shooters in the lineup at the same time. (4 of 5 of Knight, Billups, KCP, Datome and CV)

One of our best lineups last season was Bynum /Singler/Daye/CV/Drummond, I expect that we will role out similar lineups this year.

Bynum/KCP/Datome/CV/Drummond could get fun... another lob & 3 combination
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

If they dominate together, Cheeks will do his best to maximize their time as a trio. If they don't fit, and Drummond/Smith look better than Drummond/Monroe, then Monroe will be traded for Rondo. I think it's that simple.

Nope.

At the absolute worst-case scneario - like if Monroe regresses.....he's still our primary backup C.

ok... so Joe chooses keeping a backup Center over trading him for a future hall of fame PG. Makes sense...

Except Rondo is not an HoF PG, and Monroe is not a back up center. Rondo is a guy with a few years as a top 5-10 PG, and was the 4th best player on a championship team. I'd say he's had a good career, but he's not a hall of famer. Guys like CP3 and Nash are HoF point guards.

Just to keep score, when looking at this thread I see two camps:

Group A: People who believe that Smith will only play minimal minutes at SF and the majority at PF in which Monroe would also split time with Drummond at Center.

This would mean that for the majority of the game we will ALWAYS be sitting one of:
1. The guy we just signed for 4 yrs, 54 Million (Smith)
2. The guy who will likely be signed for at least that much in a couple of years (Monroe)
3. The guy a lot of people believe could be the next Dwight Howard. (Drummond)

Group B: People who believe Smith will play extensive minutes at the 3.

This would mean that for the majority of the game:
1. We will have a wingman who makes jump shots at roughly a 30% clip. (Smith).
2. A power forward who has not yet demonstrated the ability to make an outside shot (Monroe).
3. A center who has not yet demonstrated a polished post game OR an outside shot (Drummond).
4. We will have REALLY, REALLY good help-side defense in the paint (Drummond and Smith).

I honestly don't know which group makes less sense....

How is it random when I'm responding to a post that suggests we should keep Monroe as our backup center before trading for Rondo?

Rondo is on pace for a hall of fame career. He's got the stats, the hardware, and will have the necessary all-star selections when its all said and done. He's almost as good as both of those PG's offensively, and what he lacks in shooting he makes up for with his elite defense and rebounding, which is why he succeeds in the playoffs and they don't.

You think Billups will be able to get out and run better than Bynum?
