Funny how opinions can differ so differently on the same thing. One of the main reasons I closed it down to 20 was because of that same exact reasoning...Teams drafting late have a chance of making a better team if the DON'T have to wait as long (meaning they have a better shot when they can get 20-21 instead of 30-31). A few people brought that up so I went with it. I think this way is better for that reason...more so than the other way around. The quality of players at 20-21 is a good bit different than 30-31.

Make sure you guys are reading up on how things work. I've gone over this topic now, at least, three times.

As long as a player made an All Star appearance from 1970, all of their years of play are taken in to consideration. Including time in the ABA & overseas...even though those outside leagues don't mean nearly as much as the NBA.

so in essence you can Judge said Players by there prime if they atleast played in 1 allstar game from 1970 to now

Exactly.
probbly should put that in the 1st post so it isnt needed to repeat

true, that makes sense as well, although i do think the top 10 is the top 10 regardless, and the 20-30 range isn't as big of a gap, still fun regardless though and with trades / bad picks anything can happen

What was the idea behind the 1970 date if you don't mind me asking considering ABA and overseas career achievements can be taken into account though you stated it may likely not be as meaningful as the NBA achievements cause that date effectively got rid of perhaps the games ultimate achiever?

1970 sounded like a good year, lol.

However, it did end up with a great number of players in the player pool (if we had had 30 teams)...from 1970 to today, there are 300 eligible players.

You can say his name, not name dropping if you can't draft him. I realized (long) after the fact that it would eliminate Bill Russell but it's just one guy. Not the end of the world...next time around, I'll make sure to adjust it so he can be included. I'll just bump it back to 1969 next time.

Fair enough but with all due respect, Bill Russell is more than just one guy.

Alright appreciate the answer man.

I didn't mean it like that...obviously he is an all-time great and should be included in something like this. Just saying that I didn't even realize I excluded him until I was making my big board...a little too late to change the rules.

I'm picking 32nd and I'll be out for a bit. So just in case, I left my draft board with LBP.

When I saw my pick I wanted a Robinson/Zeke type combo and somehow that turned into Oscar and Baylor, certainly not what I expected at all.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.

Btw I'm really liking the Rodman and Dirk picks.

the only reason i can see dirk going this early is his Ability to be a Stretch 4. wasnt a great defender and not a great rebounder.

Agreed. I was intrigued with the idea of pairing him next to Hakeem...but with my #46 pick, not my 2nd rounder. Not a bad pick...but maybe a bit of a reach.

I honestly Think Dirk is top 20 player alltime. He has an excellent longevity, probably the best at spreading the floor ever, good defensive rebounder and always raises his game in the playoffs

Imo Dirk has a strong case for top 20.

He's been the #1 guy on a team who won 50+ games for 10+ seasons in a row. One of the GOAT shooters. MVP, etc..

That's what makes this fun. Very unpredictable and there is definitely an argument for any pick.
