Broner is a legit star, he drew 1.4. for Gavin Rees and Chente Escobedo and then his fight with Malignaggi does better ratings than Trout/Canelo.

Also 1.1 mil seems like a standard HBO number, even that crappy Stevenson/Dawson card drew 1 million something ratings.

Oh I wasn't saying it wasn't a huge rating for Showtime. My point is that these are really great numbers for GGG considering that he was unheard of less than a year ago. 1.1 million viewers is great for someone that doesn't have a massive promotion machine behind him. Broner has GBP backing him up. GGG doesn't have that same luxury.

Now I realize that HBO has more subscribers. They've got about 10 million more I believe, 28 mil compared to 18 mil. Still, GGG has drawing power for a guy that doesn't have a rabid American, Mexican or Pinoy following. It's also impressive because he isn't involved in one of the top promotional companies. This guy has done all this in a little less than 10 months.

1.4 million on HBO I believe right? GGG is going to crack similar numbers in his next fight, with no GBP, TR, or Dibella behind him. Especially if the trend in his overall viewers is any indication. He's scheduled to fight again twice this year. I'm sure HBO will air one or both of those fights. Drawing close to 1.4 mllion in a years time is damn impressive. It should also help him get better fights now that he's starting to amass a nice following. The bigger the following, the more money he's going to make.

I doubt it, only guys that have gotten at least 1.4 mil this year are Broner and Bradley. A super hyped fight like Rios/Alvarado II only got 1.2 or Dawson/Ward last year got 1.3. Consistent HBO attractions like Martinez/Donaire consistently got low 1 million viewers as well. Even in the past couple of years the only other guys who broke past 1.4 on HBO are BHop, Chavez jr and Canelo I believe. Also think that Golovkin is going to fight a pretty crap opponent for his next fight with all of the top 10 middleweights either injured or booked

GGG managed to draw 1.1 without a well known dance partner. So him fighting a no name or crap opponent shouldn't deter his numbers from rising. People are going to tune in to simply watch him KO someone in explosive fashion. Also to put things in context, the fighters you mentioned have had more time than GGG to build their brand. Again, he's doing it at a more rapid rate.

The one thing his KO over Macklin did was to help further his buzz. It just wasn't being talked about among boxing heads and circles. Even non-casual fans were chiming in. Anyway, it really wouldn't surprise me if he cracked over 1.3 million in his next fight. There are guys that just have star potential. I think he has that "it" factor. But I guess we'll see.

Damn, I sound like an annoying GGG fan boy right now.

Not a GGG fanboy, you got no pulse. The guy is exciting as eff. Without a ethnic pull either.

reports out of Matthysse's camp says the fight with Danny Garcia is gonna be on the under card of Floyd/Canelo, hopefully this is true since there were a lot of reports of Garcia possibly ducking this fight

I don't know, I thought I did hear a rumor last week that Espinoza wants that fight on the undercard. I actually think its a fight that merits its own main event on SHO but I'm certainly not complaining if it does end up on the undercard. No Mares and Santa Cruz on the card this time, so they do need to put some good fights on there.

Trout vs Lara is allegedly going to happen and be on the Mayweather undercard.

Garcia had no choice but to face Lucas. He was getting called out constantly by every big name that covers boxing. He also would have taken a lot of **** if he had rematched Judah instead. And yes, Garcia is getting KTFO.
Anyway, Great PPV. I might actually buy it.

Well consider me shocked given that Garcia wanted no part of Lucas... and that it is a main level event in itself.

In fact I can't think of another fight that has been in the undercard as good as this one.

Garcia agreed to fight Matthysse exactly two months after his last fight, how can you say a guy wants no part or is ducking somebody when literally no time has passed since people started wanting the fight. Matthysse's best win before Peterson was two Friday Night Fights caliber guys or unofficially Devon Alexander(he plain lost the Judah fight). Garcia wasn't getting pressure to fight him before 5/18 and Schaefer says right after the Peterson KO that the fights getting made and every report after said it was close(the Judah rematch was the same as Mayweather/Devon rumors, bs imo). Danny probably was just holding out for more money which is understandable since Lucas is a big risk and Garcia already has sizable drawing power in Brooklyn. The perception of Garcia ducking is pure Matthysse hype imo.

Sure, Garcia ducked him for 2 months and is now fighting Matthysse after the most shining moment in Lucas' career

The consensus around the online boxing community is that Danny gets slaughtered September 14. I could see it but just the lack of any kind of chance he's getting is crazy.
