I like the way he sets screens, runs the floor, arc on his jumpshot, good footwork down low. Just from what I saw on the highlights I think you guys have picked another very solid choice in back to back years going forward.

I know there will be plenty of minutes to go around, but with Al Jeff starting, would Biyombo be the better fit to start and have Z come off the bench at least to start the season. That way it would soften the lack of scoring down low once Jefferson sits. Zellar and McBob off the bench a good fit?

*Zeller (no "a")

But yeah, I think Zeller and McBob will be good together. With Jefferson, we need a rim protector next to him, and Bismack is the best man for the job.

Cody ain't coming off no bench and especially not for no damn Biyombo. I like Biyombo as a person but he still has a ways to go to make me like him as a player outside of blocks.

Just because he's starting, doesn't mean he gets starter minutes.

Z-Rex can come off the bench and play starter minutes, that way he can still play the majority of his minutes against second units and get a taste of playing 10-15 minutes against starting units before he fully transitions to being a starter. Playing behind and alongside Al Jefferson both will help him immensely.

I don't like the thought and possible perception of the media if Zeller came off the bench for Biz. I understand what you're trying to say about Biz starting but not getting starter minutes but it's not even necessary in this case. Biz is undersized, inexperienced, and not a quality player yet. We have depth in the frontcourt now.

lol at the notion of starting Biz over Zeller.

put the pipe down people.

Zeller is light years ahead of Biz as a player.

I could see it happening from a tanking and developmental perspective, I would be quite ok with it happy in the knowledge we have 12+ years of Zeller starting most probably and it allows acceleration of Biyombo's learning curve.

We've been trying to accelerate Biyombo's learning curve the past 2 years and it's still stuck on first gear. No more moving parts around to benefit Biz. I highly doubt that Cho fought MJ to the point of nearly losing his job to draft Zeller only to bring him off the bench for a player in Biz that has yet to even prove he's at least serviceable in the NBA yet.

Biz Gilwaker does have a point though. I do see the logic in playing Al alongside Biz because of defensive purposes.

Yep, I think we'll see a lot of mixing and matching of front court combos based on match ups and our - can't believe it - versatility.

here's why i dont think biz and al will start together... in summer league its clear we plan on playing a lot of low/high post with our two bigs. al will certainly be in the low post. biz certainly cannot play in the high post. either zeller or mcbob will be in the high post to initiate the offense. it wouldnt make a ton of sense to start each game with a lineup that doesnt fit one of our primary offensive schemes.

not for nothing, cody was asked in a summer league interview "if you were stranded on a desert island and could only have three things, what would they be?"

his answer was a machete, a whole bunch of string, and a tarp. not too bad. clearly someone who has learned the lessons of castaway.

i guess satellite phone wasnt an option.

i think i'd go with machette, flint (cause i know i would suck at starting fire the hard way), and a pot.

 yes A pot, a metal one to boil my dirty water.

then again, if it is a tropical island, then perhaps a pot isnt needed. doubtful to have freshwater lakes or streams and ocean water is nono. have to catch rainwater which can better be done with tarp. so, if there is no freshwater on my island then i want a tarp instead of a pot.

I love his motor, even if he gets blocked he doesn't spend too much time with his head down and gets right back after it.

Cody Zeller ‏@CodyZeller 9m

My mom told me that I need to start looking for furniture for my apartment. I have an air mattress and a fridge. What else would I need?!

I don't think Cody is the type to hold a grudge against the people that boo'd him when it comes time to re up a contract, at least I hope not.
