Would you trade Monroe for Rondo?
Monroe is my favorite pistons, because he actually help this team to win same games. He is best scorer, arguably best rebounder (per position), and arguably best passer. He has highest basketball IQ. His one on one defense not bad but he is one of the worst P&R defender and a turnover prone.
Rondo is best pg in the league besides shooting imho. He makes everbody better around him and understants the game. He is tremendous passer, a tripple double machine, great defender.
so?

Why plug a hole just to have another hole .i would never trade monroe for anyone.we have enough PG anyways.
Rondo is injured and way over rated.Offer 2 exp and some bench people were not using for him.

Re: Would you trade Monroe for Rondo?
Rondo has an impressive resume that includes multiple trips to the Finals, an NBA championship, deep playoffs, and classic games with unheard of triple double frequency. He has proven his toughness and resilience time and time again playing through injuries and deficits. The guy is a warrior. We would also have to recognize that he is a wounded warrior...perhaps we should emphasize WOUNDED.
He suffered a grusome elbow injury and made his way back. So that proves his toughness, but what about this recent ACL injury? What about his last few seasons where he has games because of injury? I don't think we can entertain the idea of trading for a guy that has not played since his ACL injury. What does he look like in terms of speed, quickness, agility, durability, etc?
Where is he mentally? He has a bit of a reputation of being a headcase. I appreciate the fact that he isn't a boy scout, but I wonder how he would react to being on a new team trying to grow into relevance. Will he be a disruption or will he be a guide showing guys how to win?
I recognize the impact he's had on the game and his Jason Kidd-esque way of dominating from the point guard spot. He's still young at 27 so he may not be breaking down...and he's still in his prime. I'm just anxious about seeing what a front court of Moose, Drum, and J-Smoove is able to bring to the table.
Would I trade for Rondo? Not right now.

Re: Would you trade Monroe for Rondo?
no, monroe/drummond pairing together can be dominant. smith/drummond with rondo would never be any more than above average.
who plays at SF then? singler?

Pretty much, Rondo is still widely unproven, he racks up the stat sheet, but he's the type of player that as he gets older his game diminishes as his weaknesses are masked by his athleticism. The fact that he's not a consistent jumpshooter, hasn't done anything (so far) when he's not surrounded by allstars, and is a character issue. NO THANKS

Probably yes because SF is a lot easier to fill than the PG spot.

Re: Would you trade Monroe for Rondo?
I love moose but I would probably pull the trigger. The only reason it isn't a no brainer is Rondo only has 2 years left on his deal so he may only play 1 1/2 years in a Pistons uniform. I think we would be pretty good in 2014 with a healthy Rondo but I don't know if it would for sure be enough to convince him stay. If he was willing to sign a 2 year extension so that we would have him and Smith for 4 years I think it would be worth it even if we had to include BK (who I also love). Rondo is a special player.

Re: Would you trade Monroe for Rondo?
Nope
Rondo is a great player, but he brings two things this team doesn't need: a lack of shooting and a bad attitude.
There were reports that rondo wasn't a good locker room guy and had issues with rivers and other players. We don't need that kind of issue right now. I think the group we have now are very high character guys and i think that's a big part of how they develop.
I could imagine Rondo sulking if he gets traded, especially to Detroit.
Monroe's a great player. He and Drummond are going to make up one hell of a frontcourt for years to come.

Re: Would you trade Monroe for Rondo?
SF is arguably the easiest spot to fill, but there are a lot of good PGs in this league right now. To answer the question I'd like to see how Smith/Monroe/Drummond look together before entertaining the trade.

Re: Would you trade Monroe for Rondo?
This is the only trade I'd agree to Monroe for Rondo:
Rondo/Jeff Green/Brandon Bass for Monroe/Jerebko/Stuckey/CV31
Celtics save $$$$ and add a young big rebuild around in Monroe
We go:
Rondo/Billups/Bynum/Siva
Knight/KCP/Middleton
Green/Datum/Singler
Smith/Bass/Mitchell
Drummond/Krav

key word - fill i guess? there are about 5-10 impact SF's in the league right now. There are about 28 PG's. you can fill the SF position with guys like singler, but you can fill the PG position with guys like Knight. i know what i would rather.

Re: Would you trade Monroe for Rondo?
I would do it in a heartbeat. Monroe is overrated and not worth what his next contract will be. J smooth will move to PF which is a much better position for him anyway and SF is much easier to fill.

Re: Would you trade Monroe for Rondo?
I'm starting to warm up to the idea of our frontcourt. Monroe just needs to develop his mid-range game for us to be effective.
At this point. No to Rondo. The lack of a jumpshot scares me. PG's are easy to find. Productive big-men aren't.
I would like to see a Stuckey/Jerebko trade for a guard if possible.

Re: Would you trade Monroe for Rondo?
I really think we need Monroe to increase his range to the 3 point line to be worth what he's in line to get. Him having that ability to hit the corner 3 ala Serge Ibaka would do wonders for our spacing. I'm very concerned about our current setup as his footspeed/athleticism looks like he will always be a defensive liability and teams should be able to pack the paint against Drummond/Monroe/Smith frontcourts.

Re: Would you trade Monroe for Rondo?
Monroe has great skill for a big we'd be stupid to let him go... We just need to get him to be motivated on every play down on the defensive end and hopefully Sheed and Dre/Smith will help that happen.
With all the guards we have on our roster now there is no reason to move someone like Monroe for a PG with as many question marks as Rondo.... Lets see what Rondo looks like after coming back from injury and with no Pierce, KG, or Allen on the floor. Lets see if he's a difference maker and leads him team to a plus .500 record... Then we will know if he is truly a great PG and player.

Monroe's problem on defense isn't motivation. The problem is he misses rotations and is too slow to stay in front of anyone. Hard work and education can help with the rotation problem, but I don't see how he's ever going to be able to guard athletic 4's like Griffin.
