Could be worse...it's not a statue of Michael Jackson.

At least Al Fayed has done something positive for Fulham. I love that they're keeping it around. It defines his eccentricity.

Helps that his replacement is an order of magnitude more eccentric.

And I think that the Ted Rogers statue would be more appropriate if it was made out of poorly-serviced, twenty-year-old copper wire.

I'm just imagining kids and tourists asking about the statue of Ted. Like, what are you really going to say about him as an owner? He's a great businessman and created one of the strongest companies in Canadian history, but in terms of sporting accomplishments he shouldn't be anywhere near the Dome. If you want to honour him, I'm fine with that, but not outside of the stadium. To me, it just defines his legacy with the team - he used it as a marketing tool and nothing more.

If it makes the widow, son and three daughters on the board happy, so be it, they're the ones cutting the cheques for Jays talent now. Some of you hens want to cluck about everything. It's not like he's being added to the Level of Excellence inside the stadium.

The stadium is named after him. level of excellence would seem stupid.

They can put up a statue of him if they want, but can't they find a more appropriate place? It's not like he was the owner that long or had some special connection to the team.

The amount of Rogers propaganda that gets thrown at me at a Jays game sometimes makes me feel a bit uneasy..

i don't dispute that mr. rogers is deserving of his own statue, being the founder of a billion-dollar media conglomerate, but erect the statue on the corner of mount pleasant and ted rogers way, not outside the damn skydome. no offense to the rogers family, but ted has no affiliation with the team's history aside from purchasing the stadium for 10 cents on the dollar well after the team's glory years had passed. john labatt is more deserving of statue outside the dome than rogers is.

With the amount they charge on my cable bill I'm surprised it's not a gold, diamond encrusted statue.

Oh for the love of god.

Put it outside Rogers headquarters or something.... just keep it away from the skydome - it has no business being there.

you don't think a bronze statue outside the dome is a more significant tribute than having his name painted on the facing of the 4th deck? all current members of the level of excellence are more deserving of a statue outside the dome than ted rogers.

They cheaped out on this, like they do on everything else, like this team and their service.

Honestly this is just a complete embarrassment. The man wasn't even a fan of baseball. It's a disgrace having this thing in front of the skydome. A symbol of nothing but corporate greed.

I'm normally a respectful person but I really wouldn't feel bad at all if this thing was quickly and brutally vandalized.
