West and Melo tend to occupy the same spots offensively.

West would need to play more down low with Melo on the squad. BTW who do you think is the better shooter?

But if West would play more down low then where would Hibbert play? :P

It would create some spacing problems. Those problems wouldn't be as big as they are in New York, of course, but it would still be a problem.

As for your second question. You're asking who is the better shooter between West and Melo?

Well, according to B-R has only shot above 40% in Jump Shots once. He did in this past season. On the other hand, West has shot above 40% in Jump Shots in 8 of his 10 seasons (he didn't shoot well in his first two seasons but has was playing below 20 MPG as well).

So, West's jumper seems to fall through the hoop more often than Melo's. But I don't believe that this really answers the question.

Melo has 3 point range while West doesn't. Also, Melo is taking a lot more shots under pressure as the 1st option which hurts his percentages. Then again that could be just bad shot selection.

West can play the other side of the floor. He doesn't need to be down low all the time. He can mix and match.

So, Hibbert would be in the low post, West on the other side and Melo in the strong side elbow / high post? I still see a slight problem here.

The main problem would be that it forces Melo to SF and that's a problem for him. He is not a good perimeter defender and he's shown to be more efficient offensively as a PF.

I'm no Carmelo fan, but he has to be one of the most underrated players in the league. I say that only because of how many people say he is overrated.

I don't think there is another player who is penalized more for not winning a championship. Yes he needs to learn how to get teamates more involved and he needs to learn how to play defense, but he is on a tier above Paul George, people. Paul George isn't penalized for not winning a championship because he isn't judged by the same standard.

Next year I believe they will be regarded as similar caliber guys. From early December till April he was 19-8-4 on 55%TS with elite defense, he replicated that in the playoffs, where numbers don't come as easily, while showing an increased ability to draw fouls, which will pay off next season.

I see 20-22 ppg 7.5-8 rpg 4.5-5 ápg next year, since he's unlikely to play at 14-6-3 on 36%shooting an entire month like this November when he was adjusting to his new role. That's a player on par with Melo taking defense into account, and I don't see it as too lofty a prediction, really just a slight bump in numbers compared to the level he was at the majority of the season+playoffs.

He was on a tier above last season, I don't think he will be next year. George is also much younger, if he starts losing in thefirst round every year he'll hear it too.

Well you have to think of when the poll started and also why many don't seem to support Melo much.
