Glad he has moved on from the Pacers. Pretty awful as the backup but maybe a plausible 3rd PG for someone. I really expected DJ would come in and have a decent year seeking a new contract but I found him to be highly disappointing 90% of the time he hit the court. During the Miami series in which George Hill struggled, a more competent backup PG could have made a difference for us. For each game DJ had a positive contribution, he hurt us in several others IMO. I wish him the best though.

I like the upgrade of Watson but I wouldnt have been upset had he come back. I think it was his first year with the team and he took a while to adjust. But in the Knicks series he hit a few clutch threes; and I think with another year he wouldve been better. He's one of those guys that gets better within an offense with time; something that hasnt been given to him with Charlotte changing coaches and players like underwear and only one year in Vogels offense. The guy Indy thought they were getting was the one who had been with Larry Brown for a 2 1/4 seasons and was starting to come on strong before they changed the culture. Good Luck to him. Hopefully he finds a place that he can settle in and grow with a rotation.

I agree that DJ made valuable contributions in the playoffs and I wouldn't have been upset if we had rewarded that with a new contract ... but I like CJ and Sloan. I have a good friend in Toronto and I'll be interested to hear what he has to say and DJ and Tyler. unfortunately, that may take a while as he has some health issues that he needs to take care of before he can get back online.

He was definitely a grab bag of production on any given night. A consistent Watson will be an upgrade.

If Watson can effectively move the ball around the perimeter and into the post, I think that alone will provide more than DJ normally did. From what I've read and the little bit I know of Watson, he should be able to provide that and more. A grab bag in relation to DJs play is a good way to put it. I doubt we have that issue with CJ.

I think DJ is better than he showed last year. Trying to squeeze offense out of a unit comprised of Ian Mahamni (can't catch) Tyler Hansbrough (limited passing ability, couldn't shoot, limited post game), Gerald Green (no feel for the game other than putting up shots) and a starter as a pass first point guard. Tough assignment.

By the time Frank gave up on trying make this unit work DJ's confidence was shot. I do think it's harder to be productive when getting 10-12 minutes per game than when you get say 20 minutes a game. That's why I like a shorter rotation (8 to 9 guys). The subs have a better chance to succeed.

Watson has shown he can be effective on a smaller allotment of minutes so he seems like more of a sure thing. But, I won't be shocked to see DJ get better at coming off the bench this year and be just as or more effective than Watson.
