Joe Dumars: Trade door is open for Pistons
Auburn Hills — The Pistons have been a busy team this offseason, upgrading their talent and various obvious needs that culminated with bringing back Chauncey Billups. But despite having 16 players on the roster, counting their three draft picks this season, Pistons president Joe Dumars isn’t yet done shopping.
“The only thing left is trade possibilities, and that door will continue to be open,” Dumars said. “It’ll continually stay open.” As for the rumor mill that’s linked the Pistons with point guards Brandon Jennings (Milwaukee Bucks) and Rajon Rondo (Boston Celtics), he coyly debunked both reports — which had Brandon Knight as the common denominator as trade bait.
“Bogus, bogus. No conversations.” said Dumars about the Jennings theory before turning his attention to Boston. “I haven’t had any conversations with (Celtics GM) Danny Ainge about Brandon (Knight).” It was reported the Pistons had interest in a sign-and-trade with Jennings, a restricted free agent who’s a high volume, shoot-first and shoot-second point guard.

Pretty sure there's a rule against posting more than 3 paragraphs of an article.

That was a long post about everything we already know.

And as far as the content of the article, it doesn't really strike me that anyone running an NBA team would say anything different with respect to the possibilities of trades.

We really need to address the C position better, Slava as the only true backup Center isn't going to cut it in the long run, granted we have Monroe as the 2nd C, but I definitely feel we should have one more on the roster, we should probably explore trading JJ, Singler, and Bynum for one.

Good post, I thought we should have thrown money at Dalembert...Maybe we can steal Brandon Wright before he re-signs with the Mavs...

I think the Thunder would accept that in a heartbeat.

I find it funny that all of you want to see Joe make trades but you don't want to trade Monroe, he's the only guy we have with any trade value especially not being able to add 1st rounders to a deal with expiring contracts. If our owner wasn't so cheap we could amnesty Villanueva and have money to either sign somebody to fill a hole or make a trade that would allow another team to open up cap space. There aren't as many bad contracts out there as there used to be because of the amnesty so expiring deals aren't that sought after, again, too bad Gores is a cheap ass.

Amnesty Charlie V and sign who? Just out of curiosity.

Actually, the time to amnesty Charlie V has passed. You only have about 10 days to do so and that has now gone.
I wouldn't mind throwing an offer at Timofey Mozgov. Dude has some untapped potential. If nothing else, he can bring a solid 10 minutes and 6 fouls a game.

I'm aware and was actually giving him benefit of the doubt and assuming he was aware of this as well. I was thinking he was referring to amnestying Charlie V during the amnesty period. I'm interested to know what players he had in mind to sign with the amnesty money.
As far as Mozgov, I think that it's pointless to throw an offer. It's only a couple million left under the cap to sign a player, whatever you have left to offer, either he wouldn't sign an offer sheet for the amount or Denver would undoubtedly match.

Now Joe just has to find someone who wants our D league bench players. I dont see any moves that Joe can realisticly make unless its for someone elses trash.

It's not just about signing players it's also about trades, Villanueva's expiring deal is nice and all but giving a team instant cap or luxury tax relief would be worth a lot more in a deal. As for what player(s) I would look at signing if we had around $10 million because we amnestied CV... Pekovic may not fill a need but he's a big man that can play and would allow us to trade one of our existing bigs for a very good perimeter player.....Mozgov as already mentioned because we really need a back-up center.....Greg Oden.....hell I'd give Troy Murphy a shot as a stretch 4. There aren't many guys left out there now but 2 weeks ago there sure was and we could have filled some holes but now we're stuck with guys like Singler, Jerebko, Kravtsov, Bynum and Middleton that don't belong in the league but will probably see quite a few minutes on this team with no depth.
