Dumars calls Drummond untouchable

Post#1 » by Timmaytime » Sat Jul 20, 2013 5:24 pm

Link below, author talks about Monroe being possibly available and the fact that Drummond shouldn't be quite "untouchable". Interesting read

I love how people are saying that we are overhyping him but if he was on their team they would be calling him the next big thing also.

The thing is, we're not the only ones overhyping Dre. You can see a lot of other fanbases doing the same thing (especially Rap fans), but the haters think that it's just us that's overhyping him

If he was on the Lakers/Knicks/Bulls/Celtics.. he'd be called the next Wilt Chamberlain.

Let them talk. We're getting better, comes with the territory. We're a threat now. Not some chump team.

Can't wait.

No one is overhyping Monroe or Drummond. Both should be untouchable.

a 22 yr old near All Star 7 footer with an insane offensive skill set.
a 19 yr old freak of nature 7 foot, 275 lb'er with hands & feet like a 2 guard.

You handcuff guys like that, the end

Boston fans all let out a simultaneous groan.

They really downplayed him, and yet absolutely wanted him. Hilarious.

Monroe and Drummond should both be untouchable. We could have a Duncan/Robinson thing on our hands, here.

I especially love the fans from other teams who downplay Drummond, but then "wonder" if the Pistons would trade him for [fill in the blank ... Rondo, or some other good veteran], and then get rather upset when we say we wouldn't make that deal.

They like to point out on Pistons boards: "But you guys are in win-now mode" and "Drummond is just potential, and you aren't supposed to get back full value for these mere potential guys" and "You guys are overrating Drummond." But they keep wanting Drummond for their whatevers and act like they'd be doing the Pistons a favor.

Me thinks they're dying to get Drummond.

lol i've seen that too, it makes no sense.

Were not in win now mode, we arent competing for a title anytime soon. Were growing around Drummonds potential.

... who they don't want that badly, while at the same time continuing to not shut up about proposed deals for him.

As he should be. Drummonds skill set is one of a guard, then of a man his size. I have seen dribbling skills better suited to a PG then a C. I have seen hands better suited to a SF, and I have seen speed, good grief his speed, better suited to a SG.

Drummond IS a smaller skilled player, trapped in a giants body. He is an awesome prospect, and anyone who downplays him is ignorant of Andre, probably having seen zero of his games, or just seen highlights. (Or a Celtics fan. Has anyone else seen that absurd General NBA discussion thread? Even the Celtic Mods cant give it up. Angry that we don't think a trade involving a hurt Rondo is a good idea methinks) His ceiling is unknown at this point and time.

He can shoot the damn ball to. He just doesn't do it much, as hes always around the hoop. I'm trying to remember, someone help me out here, the last NBA bigman that has this good of handles out in the open court?

This. I hope the front office is on the same page. Build around these two. Give Moose the max. Trade anyone on the team, just not these guys.

Am I the only who thinks Moose won't command max salary? 10-12 mil/year is my best bet. He should get lower than what Josh Smith got (who is a more proven 2 way player).

If it were simply based on their stats I would agree. However, given Monroe's age I think he'll command a contract about the size of Smith.

If it stays somewhat the same for the 2014-15 season then Monroe's max contract wouldn't be much more than Smith's deal anyways. I think he gets right around that amount. A young big as good as Monroe is (not a gamebreaker, but still pretty good) is going to command a lot of money.
