I sure hope his coach this time around doesn't treat him like some kid again only good for hustle plays. Hope JV gets a lot of touches in the post so he can continue to work on his confidence there.

It is not like some of you are going to first friendly games but first 2 will be played not in Klaipeda but in Kedainiai & Kaunas.

http://www.sportotv.lt/

This site will stream all games played in Lithuania. Should be broadcast.

Personally, I am also waiting for those games very much. Really hope our head coach will not hesitate will put JV into starting lineup.

Most likely JV but it depends if coach want more scoring from bench so he can go with Javtokas. I mean despite Jonas being best big others arent some scrubs. Javtokas was drafted by Spurs and they offered him contract many times but he declined. Lavrinovic brothers both had interest from NBA teams ( including Raptors) but couldnt travel to USA because they there in prison some years ago. Also Motiejunas can play C. So frontcourt will be definitely stacked this year.

I dont see the difference who stars, as long as JV gets minutes, touches, and finishes games.

Javtokas declining contract offer from Spurs is proly second dumbest thing he could have done(the first is crashing his bike and ruining his potential).

Jonas will definitely start. Show me a team where the best player comes off the bench.

P.S. I remember reading that the first friendly game on August 5 will not be televised, or did that change when they changed the venue ?

You never know, we've seen it already. He played 10 minutes per game last year, and Javtokas wasn't even on a team.

Yeah, but this year's coach seems to have his head on his shoulders and not up his ass, like the last one.

Big words lol, maybe in couple years he will be, definitely not there yet.

As for starting lineup, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see both D-Mo and JV start games off the bench, frontline very stacked this year and there is really no wrong option. JV will get more playtime than Darjus and Javtokas either way.

He is definitely the best Lithuanian player. No competition at all.

Kazlauskas used to coach Chinese NT with Yao Ming. Valanciunas will do just fine under this coach.

I'm guessing it all depends which of the two Motiejunas (PF) & Valanciunas (C) will impress the coach more. If it will be Motiejunas then I fully expect the coach to start Motiejunas+Javtokas (since Motiejunas+Valanciunas frontcourt would have an atrocious defense). If coach decides that Valanciunas should be a starter, then he will probably put one of the Lavrinovic brothers (ideally it would've been Valanciunas+Jankunas) in as a PF to start the game.

I dont think D-Mo is worse than Lavrinovic brothers defensively. Kleiza will probably start at PF anyway.

Return to Toronto Raptors
