Yea, in my case, it's Dexter, Ray Donovan, and True Blood

Haven't seen Newsroom yet, is it worth watching? I've heard mixed things

I don't watch Dexter or Ray Donovan, but sadly, I watch True Blood as well. I thought tonight we were going to see more of Deborah Ann Woll than we've ever saw before...I hate this show. But the Bill Compton fail from a couple weeks back was one of the funniest things ever.

Just kidding... it isn't the worst show in the world, but it it has a LOT of flaws. For one the writing (not dialogue) is terrible for the grand majority of the characters. It's pretentious as all hell trying to "fix" the news by covering it "the right way" 2 years later. It's a show that has garnered a lot of haters and rightfully so. I watch it because July/August is the weakest months in terms in quality television and it can at least be entertaining.
Yea, Ive heard about the pretentious nature of it. That is why I have been hesitant to check it out.

Agree with what you said about July and August. Although Breaking Bad usually airs around this time and Mad Men has had a few summer seasons too.

Dexter is still such an inconsistent show which has one of the worst supporting character casts ever and awful plot hole ridden writing. Ray Donovan is flawed but not to the same extent, yet also not as fun. True blood is just trashy entertainment which can often just be trash.

If you want, check out the first 2 or 3 episodes. You might enjoy it... I mean you watch Dexter (as do I), and the Newsroom is pretty much on that shows tier.
I'll wait till this season ends and see if the show got any better.

I never usually go crazy over hot actresses on TV shows but Deborah Ann Woll is so sexy on True Blood. I think the show is at its best when it's not taking itself seriously (last week's episode). Last season was trash though, at least this season has been better so far.

I'd probably agree. Stockton is pretty overrated IMHO. I don't see the beef.

HEY... This is a Non-Basketball Area.

Post a ridiculous image or gif or GTFO!

No, but I still think Nash is the most overrated player in NBA history. People are gonna look back 30-40 years from now and argue Nash was a top 3 player in the 2000's because of his 2 MVP's. Garnett, Duncan, Shaq, Lebron, Wade, Kobe and Kidd are all above him.

I still remember the "Kidd is only slightly better than Nash" posts in the Kidd/head coach thread. It's just mind boggling. They hold on to the two MVPs Nash won to prove an argument more than anything.

Meh, the PC board is big on advanced stats, and it's been established there for a while now that Nash is one of the greatest offensive players of all time. So comparing Nash to Jordan offensively is a logical step tbh. Pretty much everyone except for the OP (who can be close-minded sometimes when it comes to advanced stats) picked Jordan anyway.

jeff1624 wrote:Garnett, Duncan, Shaq, Lebron, Wade, Kobe and Kidd are all above him.

I don't think outside of Kidd, anyone debates that list. If people look back 30-40 years from now and only points to Nash's 2 MVPs without context, then they're being dumb. But Nash being last in that above list isn't a knock at all. Most people have Garnett, Duncan, Shaq, LeBron, and Kobe as lock top 20 players all time. Wade is borderline, probably consensus top 25. Kidd around top 30-35. So even if Nash was worse than Kidd (debatable), he's still a top 35 all time player. For me personally, I have him top 25 all time.

It really comes down to if you see him as the product of a system, in which case yeah, you probably do think he's massively overrated, or if you see him as THE system, in which case, it's hard to not respect the hell out of him. If it's somewhere in between...he's still a great player, maybe a touch overrated, but still in the top 40ish players of all time, which is still incredible company.

Forgot Dirk, but he's without a doubt a better player than Nash.

Pretty much like Stockton, but not as bad.

Jordan
Magic
Bird
Barkley
Hakeem
David Robinson
Ewing
Drexler
Payton
Pippen
Malone

I mean the list goes on and on.

At least Nash was a certified top 10 player the year he won his MVP's.

Stockton is talked of as the 2nd best point guard of all time by many and lock top 4 by pretty much all and I don't think he's even close.

Wait he wasn't only slightly better?

I've always thought Kidd was the better player then Nash and Kidd was an advanced stat outlier, but let's be real here, he wasn't blowing the doors off Nash by any means.

I feel like impact wise, kidd wasnt just slightly better, but better. not worlds better, but clear that he was the better player.

I think kidd in 2001 and barkley in 1993 are the 2 guys whose impact was far greater then their stats. what those guys did in those respective seasons was remarkable. when they stepped on the floor, they set the tone and pace of the game. it was clearly to all 9 other guys on the floor who was running the show and how the game was going to be played.

people want to debate olojuwon was better the chuck that year, and the stats would give you a great argument. but watching that season and those teams, it isnt debatable, chucks impact was far superior. His will to win could not be topped. he did whatever was needed. everyone knew it was his year. and he let them know everytime he took the floor.

hard to really quantify that

If you're looking to knock Nash down a peg in a comparison versus Stockton, knocking advanced stats is counterproductive to your argument, Stockton's advanced stats were better.
