The issue now, as Lott writes tonight, is who leaves to make room for these guys, especially the pitchers

Coming in

Santos - soon?
Happ - based on his five shutout innings in DUN tonight, have to imagine he's back within 10-14 days.
Morrow - throwing but on rehab yet, prognosis for early Aug return
Romero - needs another couple of really good AAA starts, so earliest is end of July based on spacing of AAA starts, but probably a week or two later.

Candidates to leave

Redmond - as soon as a starter returns
Oliver - surpassed by Cecil and might have value to a contender, a number of NL teams on record as seeking relief help
Wagner - has an option left, also how many hard-throwing right handers do you need if Santos returns (even if Wagner deserves a better fate)
Perez - doesn't have an option left and likely wouldn't clear waivers

This doesn't touch on something bolder, like trading multiple relievers to move salary, or to fill a hole (2B?)

I could see Wagner going down temporarily, while we sort out a trade. I'd be shocked if Oliver was around past the trade deadline, unless he makes clear that he doesn't want to be dealt.

With the emergence of McGowan, Wagner becomes the next casualty once Santos returns. Redmond leaves for Happ, and either Johnson is traded or Rogers goes back to the pen when Morrow returns (even though he's been our best pitcher). Can't see any other way around it if everyone is healthy.

Why not sell high on a guy like Rogers? Not saying he will not improve but I don't see the point of trading Josh Johnson for two 10th-20th prospects from somebodies system.

Drabek doing okay at Dunedin with his FB reaching 94 mph, but put the Romero comeback on hold. He's getting shelled in the second inning.

Ricky's second: walk, walk, single, double (clears bases), single, walk, walk - and he gets yanked.

If there is one mitigating factor, it's that he was sick on the weekend, this start was pushed back, and he looked ill according to Mike Harrington.

Anyway, the new on Drabek sounds good

Feel for Wilson. He finally started to put up numbers that looked more 'baseball player' than 'random athlete handed a bat and told to go nuts' last year, only to see this season undone by injury. Still cannot imagine him topping out as more than a fringy fourth outfielder, but that beats being a guy who washes out of pro ball in your mid-20s.

Josh Johnson to DL after he did not experience any improvement. He went from being in a prime position to get a major contract in excess of $100 million, to someone who'd be lucky at this point to get 1 yr $10 (incentive-laden) contract.
