Would you trade Monroe/Knight for Rondo?

Post#1 » by stu1230 » Sun Jul 21, 2013 2:57 pm

I'm a Knicks fan and haven't really watched the Pistons play, was curious if you guys think Monroe/Knight for Rondo would be worthwhile. Personally I don't see Knight as a PG and the idea of playing J. Smith at the 3 for extended minutes concerns me.

I think a starting 5 of Rondo/Stuckey/Singler/Smith/Drummond works much better than

No way. And that starting lineup would have not 1 shooter.

The opposing defense would just hold hands in a circle around the key playing ring around the rosy until someone shot a jumper.

At the very least, we need to wait to see how Rondo recovers from his ACL tear before we even consider trading for Rondo. And we should also see how this front court works. The insane advantage on the glass and on defense should be fun, but we should see if we can have a functional offense.

No. More interested in Jeff Green tbh.

Rondo has an impressive resume that includes multiple trips to the Finals, an NBA championship, deep playoffs, and classic games with unheard of triple double frequency. He has proven his toughness and resilience time and time again playing through injuries and deficits. The guy is a warrior. We would also have to recognize that he is a wounded warrior...perhaps we should emphasize WOUNDED.

He suffered a grusome elbow injury and made his way back. So that proves his toughness, but what about this recent ACL injury? What about his last few seasons where he has games because of injury? I don't think we can entertain the idea of trading for a guy that has not played since his ACL injury. What does he look like in terms of speed, quickness, agility, durability, etc?

Where is he mentally? He has a bit of a reputation of being a headcase. I appreciate the fact that he isn't a boy scout, but I wonder how he would react to being on a new team trying to grow into relevance. Will he be a disruption or will he be a guide showing guys how to win?

I recognize the impact he's had on the game and his Jason Kidd-esque way of dominating from the point guard spot. He's still young at 27 so he may not be breaking down...and he's still in his prime. I'm just anxious about seeing what a front court of Moose, Drum, and J-Smoove is able to bring to the table.

Would I trade for Rondo? Not right now.

This.

Can we please just stop creating Rondo threads for now unless some sort of real news occurs?

No offense to the OP but there have been plenty of threads beating this subject to death both on the Detroit and Boston, and general boards.

The only postive coming from a backcourt of rondo, stuckey, singler, would be josh and dre would be able to build alot of low income housing for the detroit familys from all those bricks,BRICK!!!!!!!

Monroe will demand a max. Someone will offer him a max. Yes, I would consider it depending on rondos recovery.

I almost lol'd... White Men Can't Jump lines never get old :-)

As for the Rondo for Monroe/Knight deal (again).... why?

We'd create a hole at SF in order to plug the hole at PG...

BTW, I believe the time has come for the Mods to either create a "All Rondo Rubbish" thread or lock these never ending "Monroe for Rondo" threads the minute they're created...

I agree. Let's keep it to one as I'm sick of the trolls coming in and posting a new thread every week. Keep it to the trade board.
