Wow, that Maynor signing looks worse and worse.
dckingsfan wrote:I am surprised that Nate Robinson, Mo Williams and Beno Udrih haven't been signed... I still don't have much faith in Maynor, guess there isn't much of a chance that one of them would sign for the minimum but... this is still a guard's league and what happened last year without an adequate point guard should still sting.

TOR doesn't seem to be able to hold onto players very well.
That when Jonas Valananciunas comes free.

I understand your initial reaction, but i think your remembering the 25 y/o Brooks from 2009 who flashed potential. He is a better scorer than maynor, but he is not near the pg/floor general maynor is and he is actually a worse defender. Combine that with the fact that Maynor is 3 years younger and now fully healed from knee surgery and I actually think I lean towards maynor.

Maynor has some legit upside left IMO. Udrih, Brooks, and Williams don't. I'm fine with Maynor. I think he's a good fit and this is the right situation for him. I think he's going to surprise people with how competent he is.

Maynor is not going to "wow" people with his scoring and athleticism like a Nate Robinson or a Aaron Brooks might, but he's a better, more poised playmaker than both of them. That's what I like about him.
