I dont know a ton about Koufos's game other than he grabs every offensive rebound on 2K13.
Koufos+Randolph = murder on the boards

I bolded a certain part for you. This isn't two years ago DA, this is DA with a torn achilles and ACL in consecutive years.

I don't know what he means, but I think the philosophy seems to be something along the lines of making the team strengths stronger. We gave up shooting to acquire more size, defense, and rebounding. I would prefer trying to shore up weaknesses rather than re-emphasize our strength, but I'm not really complaining. Value-wise this seems like a good trade for us.
However, as I've often advocated in the past, I suggest breaking up the Gasol/Randolph tandem for longer stretches could be a good idea. Gasol can make the game easier for Ed Davis with his excellent D and his crisp passing out of the high-post. Randolph can help the bench unit score, particularly with the better shooters residing there (assuming Q does not become the starter at SF). Koufos can also hide Randolph's defense a little bit in much the same way that Gasol does.
