Re: Trade Thread (REVENGE OF THE NERDS II: NERDS IN PARADISE
There is a belief in Blazer land that LMA is a franchise savior for the right franchise...and apparently not Portland.
IMO that Lee and Green are pretty much equal value for LMA and you can add Bazemore etc.
Portland is looking to rebuild and Lee doesn't fit that need. They will insist on both Barnes and Thompson, with us getting back possible Matthews as well. I personally think it is too much to give up for LMA.
There are two perceptions out there; one we are trying our best to dump Lee and two, we signed Dre so Barnes is no longer needed.
Teams aren't going to want to give up anything of value for Lee and teams are probably waiting to see if they get Barnes on the cheap as well.
Unless you can find a 3rd team that is willing to take on Lee, I would find it hard to believe that LMA will ever be a Warrior.

If Mathews were coming back I would give up Barnes in the deal. Klay not so much. Both, not in a million years.

Aldridge is the most overrated player I've ever seen on RGM. Not just some outliers - a lot of POR fans think he is elite, and put his trade value in the Dwight category

Re: Trade Thread (REVENGE OF THE NERDS II: NERDS IN PARADISE
I really hope the Blazers don't have a huge interest in Asik. I could see Morey pulling off a deal with Asik going to Portland or a third team that gets Portland prospects. If Terrence Jones starts the season strong with the fact that the Rockets PFs will be left wide open a lot he could become another interesting prospect they could dangle.
A trio with Dwight/Harden and LMA with LMA being a third option (although not sure he wants to be more of a role-player like Bosh) could be a scary team

i usually agree with a lot of your takes, but i think you're way off here. i don't think that lma + matthews is any where close in value to lee + harry.
would this trade make us a title contender? if it's not a clear yes, then what do we get out of this trade? lee's contract is terrible, but his on court production and fit for this team maximize his impact. lee + green i would do. maybe, you could convince me to add bazemore.
as i've said in other threads, attack dre will be our 6th man by the time klay or barnes contracts get extended. that's the future i envision for this current roster. damn scary if you ask me.

I know they traded for Sideshow Bob, but what if we also enticed them with Ezeli. I know he's probably at a discounted value at the moment, but could be an enticing piece for the rebuilding Trailblazer squad. Lee + Ezeli + Dray or Bazemore. We'd still have JO and Speights to back up the 4/5 and add in Harry in there for a bit at the 4. I'm not saying I'm in love with it. But worth thinking it out.

That would make Lee a poor man's LMA right?
Better to be rich than poor.
I am not high on Barnes. I know that's not going to be popular here, but I don't think his ceiling is All Star as so many others do. Something like a Poor mans' Caron Butler is what I saw in Barnes by year end. For me his ceiling came down as I saw more of him play, yes, including his playoff beasting against Tony Parker.
Sure he might make a leap. He might do it this year he might do it in a few, but there is a leap yet to be made before I can imagine even half of what some of you see in him. I could be totally wrong, but right now, Barnes is certainly not holding me back from making trades that improve the team. IMHO, that trade would improve the team. LMA is an upgrade (to what degree there is room for debate, but he is an upgrade, certainly an upgrade over over post-AS Break Lee) add to that on this roster I think we actually get more out of Wes Matthews than we will get out of Barnes.

i see what you are saying about barnes, but respectfully disagree. though i don't know that i'm as high on him as others, i think it's clear his ceiling is higher than matthews. in fact, i think he's already on par or better than matthews. add to that matthews terrible contract (imho) and this move doesn't make sense to me. i def think there is a lot of room to debate how much better the team would be with the addition of lma next season, but i think in the long term the trade shifts toward the blazers with barnes development.

One note as I made the earlier proposal: I do think Aldridge is better than Lee, but not by the massive margin that a lot of people do. (Particularly people in Portland, and their GM.) I'm not actually very high on either Green or Bazemore, never see either one of them being anything more than about a 7th or 8th man, which is easily replaceable. I'm just hoping against hope that one or both of them have inflated their value a little bit after summer league, so that we could get more for them now than later.
Part of the reason for this approach is it also allows us to offer a roster spot to Ian Clark. Without the trade, we'll probably have:
C: Bogut (O'Neal / Ezeli)
F: Lee / Iguodala (Speights / Barnes / Green)
G: Curry / Thompson (Douglas / Nedovic / Bazemore)
Clark would be our 14th guy, but our 6th guard. I doubt they want to have 15 guys on the roster (which would eliminate their ability to absorb anybody using the TPEs they have, which I believe is part of their strategy), and my bet is that with the injury history of all of Bogut, O'Neal, and Ezeli, they're going to want that 14th guy to be a big man rather than a 6th guard. My idea was to due an unbalanced trade that helped to create a roster spot for Clark.
Just a thought.

Re: Trade Thread (REVENGE OF THE NERDS II: NERDS IN PARADISE
I just wonder if Nemanja is really coming over this season.
It would seem so, but until it happens I just dont know. Also with your list we can add Klay and Bazemore to being able to play SF if needed. Also Guo9 can play SG (and did for most of last year by the way).
What your list doesn't show is the competent shooters off the bench. Nemanja may or may not shoot well....same with Toney Douglas....But Clark is a shooter and he can handle the ball...so to me, that's where he is needed.

I agree with all of this - his shooting is exactly why I'd want him here.
I'm pretty sure that Nedovic has already signed his contract with us, and I think that means he's coming over and counts on the roster. I was thinking that that would be a scenario that "helped" (i.e. shrunk the roster), but I don't think so based on his signing the contract.
If I don't have anything funny to say, can I still have a signature?

There is a roster spot for Clark and there is no way Portland trades us LMA without starting with Barnes and Klay. They will get draft picks and young players with upside. So why would they take Lee?

I'll take LMA and his +3.8 RAPM (+2.1 on defense). Aldridge + Bogut = unstoppable.
Seriously, gives me shivers thinking about those two + Klay + Iggy on defense.

IDK Lamarcus is overrated. He doesn't do work in the paint, he's a big jumpshooting big man. he doesn't work the offensive glass. His defense is good but if he can't take advantage of mismatches what's the point? Hell we could put corey maggette on him and his offense doesn't change.
Al horford for lee + Barnes is something i'd do though.

Al horford for lee + Barnes is something i'd do though.
He's been nearly as efficient as Lee for his career (considering his high USG), and his defense is 10X Lee's.
