Active players you consider top 10 at their postion all time

Post#1 » by Levity » Wed Jul 24, 2013 9:41 pm

Are we witnessing some of the greatest players ever to set foot on an NBA court?

There's a few obvious names in Bryant (top 2 SG all time in most sensible fans eyes), Lebron (Can be considered the best SF ever) and Duncan(Best PF ever)

after you move past those 3 guaranteed names, you still have some obvious players in Dirk, Wade, and KG. but moving past them, who are some other players you consider top 10 all time at their respective positions?

Has Nash cemented himself a top 10 PG spot? Does CP3 already take that honor at this point in his career? Can Pierce sneak his way into this list? Has Gasol played well enough in his career that you consider him a top 10 forward(his position often changed due to injuries on the lakers, so maybe its hard to say)

Nash has definitely cemented himself with those 2 MVPs.
Gasol has a good case as a top 10 PF considering his overall accomplishments.
I think KD is already a top 10 SF

PG-This is the golden era for PGs so I could easily see Rose/Westbrook/CP3 being mentioned in the top 10
SG-Kobe/Wade
SF-Lebron James/Paul Pierce
PF-Dirk/Tim Duncan/
C-Lol

Definitely for me. Can you think of 10 SF's you'd have ahead of him?

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

IDk
Barry, Havlicek, Dr J, Bird, Worthy, LeBron, those for sure. Then you have guys like Durant (he will soon if he's not there yet), Pippen, Nique, Bernard King, Baylor was more of a 3 or a 4?

I think you're missing a 15 time all-star (14 straight appearances), 9 All-NBA selections, the only player to have 25,000 points, 10,000 rebounds, 5,000 assists, 1,500 steals, and 1,5000 blocks in the history of the NBA aka the original Mr. Do-It-All who revolutionized and gave name to the slang "point-foward", also joins an exclusive club of MJ, David Robinson, and Olajuwon as the only player in the history of the game to win the MVP and DPOY awards.

Is also known as perhaps the fiercest and most passionate player ever to ever play the game.
Finally was "on top of the world" in 2008.

Yeah, definitely not top 10 player of all time at his position.

pretty selected hate to not even mention dwight as top 10 center ever when he clearly is. not too many people have won 3 defensive players of the years. only ben and dikembe have and they average about 7-11ppg less than dwight. the only centers ahead of dwight are wilt, rusell, gilmore, kareem, shaq, hakeem, drob and possibly ewing. dwight is easily 8-10th.

LeBron
Bird
Havlicek
Pippen
Dominique
Baylor
Erving
Barry
King

Those nine for sure, and he's there for now at 10 but I would put Durant and Melo ahead of him in a few years.

Anyone consider maybe VC or T-Mac as possible top ten SGs? Surely if you go by talent or peak alone, then I'd think they'd at least be seriously considered.

Based on to-date accomplishments, there are only 7 sure things: Nash, Bryant, Wade, James, Duncan, Garnett, Nowitzki.
