Well you can definitely add in Moses Malone into that list

Not sure about Gilmore but you forgot Moses and Mikan.
Lets leave Walton out for his shortended carreer, and you still have Cowens, Lanier, or Haywood-Hayes if you count them as Cs.

Center is a deep position, and Howard has no rings or MVPs. Heck, Howard has only been top 3 in MVP voting once. He's quite dominant in this era, but never has the NBA been so devoid of top-end center talent.

You missed two obvious top 10 names: Moses Malone (3 MVPs) and George Mikan (5 championships, so dominant they changed the rules). I also have Bob McAdoo ahead of Howard, and a pretty good case can be made for Walton, who certainly had a better peak than Howard.

Locks: Nash, Kobe, KG, Duncan, Nowitzki, LeBron, Wade.

Arguable: Pierce, Carter, Ray Allen.

Potentially Eventually: Chris Paul, Kevin Durant, Rose, Dwight, Tony Parker, Melo

LeBron

Barry
King

Those nine for sure, and he's there for now at 10 but I would put Durant and Melo ahead of him in a few years.

I hope that's not in order? I'm OK with 'Bron over Bird I guess, but Dominique over Baylor and Barry makes my stomach turn. He was Melo with a windmill, and yeah KD's already passed Melo and supplanted himself in the top 10 to me.

No order

I think you're missing a 15 time all-star (14 straight appearances), 9 All-NBA selections, the only player to have 25,000 points, 10,000 rebounds, 5,000 assists, 1,500 steals, and 1,5000 blocks in the history of the NBA aka the original Mr. Do-It-All who revolutionized and gave name to the slang "point-foward", also joins an exclusive club of MJ, David Robinson, and Olajuwon as the only player in the history of the game to win the MVP and DPOY awards.

Is also known as perhaps the fiercest and most passionate player ever to ever play the game.
Finally was "on top of the world" in 2008.

Yeah, definitely not top 10 player of all time at his position.

yea i missed Garnett

I think a lot of players.

Can somebody list me 10 SFs better than:
LeBron, Durant, Melo, Pierce?

Can somebody list me 10 PFs better than:
Dirk, KG, Duncan?

Can somebody list me 10 SGs better than:
Kobe, Wade?

Can somebody list me 10 PGs better than:
Steve Nash?

Actually the PG position and the Center position might be the ones that are tougher to get in. I don't see any C entering top 10 ever: maybe Dwight.

Here was a Top Ten list from Fox Sports a while back. I might quibble with the order, but I think they are all better than Dwight (at least for their era), and it doesn't even include Ewing:

Russell
Kareem
Wilt
Shaq
Hakeem
Moses Malone
Mikan
David Robinson
Willis Reed
Nate Thurmond

Of course Dwight's career is far from over, so he still has the chance to break into the top 10.

Howard is not a top ten center.

Players obviously better:
Mutumbo, Mourning, Unseld, Mcadoo, Walton, Parish, Reed, Ewing, Robinson, Malone, Wilt, Milkin, Kareem, Hakeem, Shaq, Russell... Hell, I'd take Sabonis over Howard ten times out of ten on my team.

Players arguably better:
Gilmore, Thurmond, Schayes, Hayes, Belamy

Kobe, Duncan, LeBron, KG, Nash are the only obvious ones.

PG

Lock: Nash
Should be a lock but I guess you can argue he is not: CP3

SG
Wade, Bryant
Potential: Manu depending on how you evaluate him

SF
Locks: LeBron, Durant, Pierce

PF
Locks: Duncan, Garnett, Dirk, Gasol

C:
Dwight

Not than LeBron. He's top 10 already, and quite easily.

For the others, we've got some obviously better names: Bird Havlicek Dr. J Baylor Pippen Worthy Barry, and then you could make arguments for these guys or other guys.

As of today, Durant is Alex English with less longevity. It's pretty likely that he will be a top 10 SF eventually.

As of today, Melo is Dominique Wilkins with less cool highlights. It feels dubious that he will be a top 10 SF because his teams don't win enough in the playoffs (although Deek is debatably a top 10 SF and had the same problem).

Sorry but English had never the status of Durant, not even close.

I don't doubt that Durant is a better player today than English ever was. If Durant's career ended today, though, English has a better resume.

Both guys have huge statistical production. Neither guy was particularly good at anything other than scoring. Durant has 4 consecutive seasons above 25 pgg just now. Alex English had 8. It's the same story with all-star appearances. Neither guy has a Finals appearance. Durant has all-NBA first teams to his name while English had 2nds, but given the respective competition I'll forgive English for that (Durant wouldn't get past Bird and Dr. J, either).

I expect Durant to pass English. Durant's got good chances to win an MVP or a title. Either of these puts him above English. Alternatively, he can just keep doing what he's doing for longer.

I'd put Dwight as a lock over Mikan. Don't want to turn this into an era debate but Dwight saw more intricate offences, better athletes and did so in a perimeter oriented league. Dwight also dropped 40/20 in a closeout game a top 5(3?)(2?) (1?) Player all time. People need to slow their role with the Dwight hate. Who else in Mikan's era even gets mentioned? Jumping Jack Phillips with an amzing 28' vertical? Dead eye Dougie Smith, the man with the half court hook shot?

I've got no problem with the greats from the 60's and 70's but Mikan is more of a folk hero. Yes they changed the rules for him but they needed to be changed and he clearly benefited from being the first and only giant.

Nash
CP3
Kobe
Wade
Lebron
Durant
Duncan
Dirk
KG

There might be more but those were the first names that came to mind immediately.
