Thanks for this, Cousins seems serious and excited.
Like how he said that he and the staff don't have to like each other, but just go out there and win.....Means he is starting to become a leader right there.

There are some who see this as a reflection of his maturity versus a promise of good things to happen. He's had this opportunity before and he did not take advantage of it. If it doesn't work out again he just doesn't get it.

I don't think M16 is an auto-starter for them yet. I could see Thornton as the starting SG opening night.
PF is another tricky one. I think Landry starts for them.
Other than that, you have it right imo.

Re: Asking for Kings' Fans Opinion on DeMarcus Cousins
I think we need another outside threat at one of the forward spots. If Mbah a Moute is starting, I think you need Patterson in there to space the floor. If Salmons is starting, you can go with other options. Although I think Landry was brought in to be a bench scorer, which is where he's best at in this league.

Re: Asking for Kings' Fans Opinion on DeMarcus Cousins
The Kings have been looking under some pretty big “stones” lately, including rumors of interest in former 2007 No. 1 overall selection Greg Oden and restricted free agent center Timofey Mozgov. Is Cousins’ preference to move to power forward the reason the Kings are apparently chasing these players? The 22-year-old big man seems to think so.
Anyone read this yet (Link)? I mean, I figured this for the most part, but it's interesting to hear from Cousins himself, his preferred position. I remember him playing the four along-side Dally, that worked pretty well. With all that in perspective, It makes since why we're going after Oden, and, uhh... Mozgov.

Re: Asking for Kings' Fans Opinion on DeMarcus Cousins
DeMarcus still has zero clue what to do on PNR other then rush the ball-handler, and puts his teammates on blast forcing them to help a rolling bigman at the rim, who when he catches it high is pretty darn impossible to defend.
All comes down to being lazy. It's like he wants to take as many breaks as he can defensively - doesn't really play alert with his feet, always with his hands, and doesn't really understand the angles. Coach Malone got a bit of an eye-opener today as far as the 'DeMarcus Cousins defensive anchor' talks.

Best write up on DMC to date. Most of us are in a certain "camp" when it comes to him. This was pretty neutral and factual.

Re: Asking for Kings' Fans Opinion on DeMarcus Cousins
Yup. 100% agree.
I've been calling out his defense for a while now, good to see someone in the national media picking up the glove.
The problem is, when DeMarcus reads this - how does he react? Does he say "man he's got a point here", or does he say "man this moron doesn't know what he's talking about. It's not my fault".
I tend to lean towards the latter, which is also why I honestly don't have much faith in DeMarcus leading us or himself anywhere - but I sure hope I'm wrong and under Malone and co his attitude and ability to take blame and better himself will change, without excuses.

The other thing I see is I do not feel he can play 35mpg. I really feel his lack of defensive effort comes from being tired. He has a ton of physical tools but running the floor isn't something I feel he can do for more than a possession or two. I feel this is the root cause of most his issues.

Re: Asking for Kings' Fans Opinion on DeMarcus Cousins
Cousins should be tired, he has to work ridiculously hard on offense to get his points and that is easily one of the biggest reasons he at times has a lower FG% and no question would effect anyone in regards to their defensive impact and effort. That's why a system and complimentary players are so important. From what I recall Cuz had a LOT more space after that Houston trade, notice his FG% from then on as well: 52%, 50%, 49%. Still not a ton of easy baskets though because Smart was a true to form PnR coach, Cousins is not best used in that set, not at all. Make him a passer more to get those points, let him spot up, watch some Brad Miller/CWebb tape coach.
I liked that interview Vasquez did after being traded to the Kings, even he recognizes it, he basically said he wants to help get Demarcus some easy baskets and some "dunks". Cousins is somewhat like McLemore and quite a few other players that don't just dunk it in every time, a few easy baskets can get them going and a lot of the time they need it. When they get it all of a sudden those jumpers are falling, the whistles start blowing for you instead of against you, etc. Because of Cousins' more mid-range style and groundbound status he has to rely on his touch more than others and easy baskets get those senses and feeling going. That will go a long way into helping his stamina.

Another thing is, Cousins always has an attitude during interviews, when asked about his weight or if he's in shape. He always says, 'it's fine,' when clearly it's not. He just has this mentality that everyone's out to get him, and he doesn't take criticism well. It baffles me.

Fierce competitor, loads of talent, really hates to lose but a bit immature
