Pistons - Raptors idea

Post#1 » by The Penguin » Wed Jul 24, 2013 10:43 pm

Pistons in: Gay, DeRozen, Lowry, Amir

Raptors in: Monroe, Knight, CV31, Stuckey, Middleton, Krav

Raptors tank for Wiggins, have two young bigs and max contact room next summer.

Pistons go:

Lowry/Billups/Bynum/Siva
DeRozen/KCP
Gay/Datome/Singler
Smith/Johnson/Mitchell/Jerebko
Drummond/(FA like Blair, Mozgov, Aldrich, Ayon)

That would be badass.

All 4 of those guys are super talanted.

Amir is a **** warrior. Most under rated player in the league. Rudy Gay is overpaid, but he is super talanted. Not many people can do things that he can do on the court. Kyle Lowry can be very good. He's coming up in a contract year so you know he is gonna be in the best shape of his life. DeMar is an okay player right now, but he is young and he has elite work ethic that very few players have.

Bad for Detroit, this is easily the worst shooting team in the league. Both Derozan and Gay are two inefficient scorers who cant shoot the ball well- they simply arent good fits with a Smith/Drummond 4/5 combo.

Lowry is a FA.... Gay could opt out for a long term deal... We could be left with Amir who is an unrestricted FA in two years... Very risky when you consider Monroe is pretty much guaranteed to be here for 5 more years and is young and still improving.

This is a mind numbingly terrible trade.

No thanks.
Before we signed Smoove, i liked the idea of getting Rudy, but now it doesn't make sense to trade Monroe for him.
Monroe can play both PF and C and can play with either Smith or Drummond or both. Gay can't play PF IMO, so we lose that versatility and depth at C.
DeRozen and Gay are a bad fit too. DD is basically a smaller Gay without range.
Lowry is a FA next season too which doesn't help.
i see our ceiling going down as a team after this trade.

Alternative:

Pistons trade: CV, Stuckey

Raptors trade: Gay

Raptors still tanking for Wiggins and get cap flexibility for next year. Pistons don't have to give up two players from their core to get a legit SF.

Honestly I don't see the point of this anymore with Josh signed unless you plan on playing Rudy as a gunner off the bench.

WTF!?

Joe D see's Gay's worth as Stuckey+CV. So you want to trade knight and moose for Lowry , Amir and DD(whose contract is almost as bad as Gay's)? This is such a horrible trade for us

*The fact that the only person who likes this is a Raps fan and he's hyping amir like he's some allstar should be a good indicator that we are getting bent over

This would be the plan. Would you rather have Gay or Singler coming off the bench?

Some Pistons fans don't realize how good Amir has become. He's a work horse who plays very good D and has a rebounding rate just slightly below Monroe... He is still just 26 years old. He does a lot of the little things that help a team win.

That said, obviously Monroe has a much more polished offensive game and Amir wouldn't fit great next to Dre (although defensively a Smith - Amir - Drummond front line would be insane). I wouldn't give up Monroe for Gay, Lowry, or Amir.

Bad trade for Detroit. Gay is one of the 3 worst NBA contracts. Demar cannot score from 3, is not able to pass and to dribble with is left hand. Lowry is an expiring contract. Amir is a warrior for sure but with limited skills on offence and is undersized and unable to contain the real bigs in the paint without having fouls probrems.

I'm ok for trading for Gay but not at the expense of Monroe. I'd be willing to do Middleton, Stuckey, Jerebko, and Villanueva for Gay and Amir Johnson.

We will try again at the trade deadline, and you'll be begging for this trade. You will be out of the playoff hunt by then and you and a bunch of other teams will be vying for expiring deals like CV and Stuckey :-)

We'll leave that up to the Raps GM.
