This isn't 2K, dial it back. Rondo isn't getting traded until he's healthy and Gay is the last player we need right now

Actually, this board is 2K :-)

Seriously, I think we hold onto Stuckey and CV - they will increase in value between now and the trade deadline. I think Gay and Rondo will need to be moved by their respective teams at the trade deadline, so this will have to wait until then. At that point, both Toronto and Boston will be 20 games under 500, and both Gay and Rondo will hate being on their teams.

You gotta work in Tobias Harris to make Piston Pete happy. I give this a 3 out 10 but willing to re-grade it if you add him.

So, Boston trades Rondo and Sullinger for Stuckey and Monroe? That seems far fetched considering what Boston has reportedly asked in any trade inquiries.

Unless somebody offers us a trade we can't turn down , I'd rather wait til the trade deadline . I can't wait til the season starts to see how these guys play toghether.

Are you guys crazy? If Boston fans saw this they would want Drummond, Monroe, Gay, picks, our ballboy, and a signed piece of the palace floor for Rondo. That guy is the best PG in the history of every league.

He could go out and run the Lions to a superbowl.

Toronto's GM would just want a hotdog with an NBA jersey on it.

does anybody else think a Jerebko/Courtney Lee deal makes sense?

I know we'd be taking on an extra year with Lee's contract, but Jerebko seems to be the odd man out in our rotation. and if we can turn him alone into a decent stop-gap starter at a position of need, I think its worth the extra year.

Lee's relatively young, so his skills shouldn't fall off any time soon. and he's not getting paid starters money, so even if he ends up coming off of the bench at some point (when KCPs ready hopefully) it wouldn't really hurt too much capwise.

would it be worth it, or is it a desperation move?

Why do we persist with the Gay/Rondo/Monroe stuff?

You can't go from the outhouse to the penthouse in one summer...

IMO:

Billups and Smith were signed to put butts in seats.- not lead us to the championship in the next 3 years

Monroe, Drummond, Knight and K.C.P are the core of the franchise (for now) moving forward.... the most likely candidate to be traded of those 4 is Brandon Knight, not Monroe!

Monroe and Drummond are the foundation for what Joe wants to build here - he's said so! He wants athletic wings that can cover multiple positions... he's said so! He also wants 2 guards that can facilitate... and has said that positions are antiquated...

yet no one believes a thing Joe says...

Smokescreens are fine when you're on the phone to another GM... when you're sitting in front of a room of reporters you don't lie! You just don't tell them the whole truth... and it's up to us to read between the lines...

That doesn't mean you invent a completely different story!

Based on all interviews I've seen Joe loves Monroe... high character guy, quality person, quality player, potential All-Star blah blah blah...

there is not a shred of evidence to suggest Joe has even thought about trading Monroe! NONE!

Some people think Joe would offer Monroe for Gay....Joe made an offer for Gay - it didn't involve Monroe and was shot down.

Some people think Joe would offer Monroe for Rondo.... Joe made an offer for Rondo - it didn't involve Monroe and was shot down.

Don't you think that IF Joe was willing to deal Monroe he would have offered him to TOR or BOS and the deal would be done by now?

Not even Joe is dumb enough to offer Monroe for Gay, that would be an atrocious deal. I think Joe called Ainge about Rondo simply because of how bad Ainge got screwed in the Garnett/Pierce deal, Dumars probably thought the Celtics were giving players away after that trade, not to mention taking on bad contracts.

BOOM!

And IMO: acquiring Jennings is a win-win situation for us.

IF he gets with the program he could be an All-Star calibre guard... dude has spent the early years of his NBA Career "getting his" and that got him nowhere important and essentially left him begging for a long term contract!

Yesterday I was reading how he was "open to the possibility" of signing the 1-year qualifying offer from the Bucks... which would have been disappointing for him.

Today? Dude's got a shiny new deal, paying him significantly less than he expected from a team that he likely never considered!

If that isn't a wake up call I don't know what is.

IF Jennings gets his head right then we'll benefit. IF he doesn't change a damn thing then he'll be trade bait... and his contract isn't impossible to move.

Good move by Joe... Happy to be wrong about this off-season. IMO Joe has delivered exactly what Gores wanted
