Anyone read anything at all about his workout for ATL today? Hopefully this is over by Monday. "Next week" is too vague for me.

ira
Bill Duffy, Greg Oden's agent, to NBA.com, "There might be less pressure if he tries this with a team that’s rebuilding."

And...

Duffy,"Then again quality of medical staff will matter.Maybe a winning team has chemistry that’s good or his role would be clearly defined.”

Hmm...

I don't get why there would be less pressure on a losing/rebuilding team over a proven champ where he knows his roll and isn't expected to contribute more than 10-20 min a game at most.

No one likes to lose and even if the coaching staff isn't putting pressure on the players the players themselves will be as well as the fans. No pressure eh? A different kind of pressure maybe, but still a good amount of pressure.

Its nice to see bron and oden side by side. Both number one picks. Both look alike too.

If the money is the same, he should definitely go to a contender. He's going to be a bit player next year either way. There's no way he plays more than 15-20 minutes per game. 15-20 minutes surrounded by scrubs on a rebuilding team isn't going to get him any attention. But 15-20 quality minutes for a contender could get him a serious payday.

He should just look at Birdman and how good he looked for us after sitting at home for half the season. We have the need and the supporting cast to make role players look good. A decent center in our system pushes us over the top. If he plays one year for us, does 15-20 a game, and averages 6/5, the league is going to be beating down his door. He could do the exact same thing for the Kings and be playing on a min deal again next year.

I get what you're saying but what you have to look at is how Oden's camp is perceiving this. The whole pressure thing is based on a lot of dynamics, for one Oden signing with rebuild team would signify they're not looking at him to be a savior. While signing with an elite like the Heat would signify he's going to be counted on if given a place in the regular rotation. But at the same time it wouldn't hurt him because he's surrounded with better players than on a rebuild.

In the Heat case they need a big in the worst way to combat at least the Pacers who figure to be the only road block from a Finals appearance.

This whole process for Oden is really based on how much of a mental burden he has to put up with during this comeback.

The other side to this is that Oden will want to play, he has to find out where he's at physically and mentally during games. Sitting on the bench or getting limited minutes won't help his case from his perspective.

For Oden his list is really simple.....

1. Stay healthy ( hold up for at least 75 games )
2. Play well if given the chance
3. He doesn't care about a 1 yr deal

If he takes care of 1 and 2 then 3 is moot, because the next season teams will come calling.

I've come to a point where we have been waiting for long that I'm not even worried anymore. Just get a solid big, work out the rest. Need athletic wing or another point guard that can shoot the 3 and create.

If Oden doesn't come we have to make ourselves better. LeBron, wade and Bosh have to be better and a point guard needs to step up, whether Cole or Chalmers

i dont see the correlation between how long this goes to whether he signs with us or not. His agents gave a timeline, and thats next week. Monday or not, it should be resolved soon. And camby is still available but i saw somewhere saying that the heat are not as interested as the bulls or rockets. And are no longer one of the frontrunners. Either way, i dont want camby. Hes not going to make an impact anyway.

I can't believe it's been dragged out so long. But to be honest with all these things coming out from his agent.. I personally believe its too rack up the salary.. but i doubt the HEAT are gonna dish anymore out, besides the minimum.

Gonna be pissed if we goes somewhere else.. not cuz of the fact he left.. more so cuz i feel as though we by passed some of the other free agents in pursuit of Oden. (Idk why)
