that thing still hit me
pretty sure Les wanted a more experienced coach than Thibo
even though Thibo is good at defense
but he play his players till they can't go anymore
that's why you see so many injured in Chicago

It continues...

Jesse Mermurys, the former Rockets Director of Player Development, has been hired away by the Toronto Raptors.

I don't see anyone going after Denver's staff.

Actually, almost all of Denver's staff is gone. Masai is now the GM of the Raptors and their Assistant GM is now the GM for the Kings. George Karl got fired and all their assistant coaches are gone with Brian Shaw becoming their new head coach and bringing in his own assistants.

The Rockets staff have value these days because for the past few years they were a perfectly run organization. Rebuilding in a good way while staying competitive. It allowed prospective players to know they are going to make the playoffs (and sell tickets) while also having enough space to acquire new talent

Just look at the way they were making the playoffs year by year but still had the capacity to acquire Harden and Dwight

These are very good points. The vast majority of NBA management thinks that you have to "tank" for one or more years to build a good team. Of course this penalizes your fans who are paying big prices for tickets. Houston management showed that you can have a decent team and still plan your personnel moves so that you have the flexibility to get a Harden and a Howard. It is all in how competent management is. Sadly, most NBA management is bad, if not outright horrible.

You're missing my point. I wonder how much of Morey's brilliance is the result of his staff, and is losing that staff going to hurt what has become a very well run basketball team. I know Morey's metrics are all proprietary, but just who knows them.
