LaMarcus Aldridge to ATL Al Horford to POR

Post#1 » by myrak433 » Sun Jul 28, 2013 11:08 pm

I would be so pumped if this deal went down. I love Horford but he will never be as good as LaMarcus Aldridge .

Its a fair trade, but i wouldn't want it to happen, because i like Horford's defense and ability to run and start the break.

Horford has better shot selection, better passing ability, and is actually a competent defender.

Aldridge takes too many jumpers for a guy as big and athletic as he is... sound familiar?

Plus Ferry/Bud consider him the centerpiece

This is a tough one. LaMarcus is a much more dependable scorer, Al a better passer and defender.

It's a bit of a wash...but based on LA's scoring ability I'd rate him slightly above Horford.

Ideally, they'd play next to each other as their skill sets mesh very well.

But Hirford's intangibles are so off the charts; he is a leader of men and the kind of player you hitch your franchise to.

It's too tough to call.

Reputation versus actual play. Aldridge scores 3.7 pts/game more than Horford (21.1 to 17.4) but does it on more shots and at a worse percentage (.484 to .543). Horford beats him on rebounding (10.2 to 9.1), steals (1.2 to .8) and passing (3.2 to 2.6). Aldridge beats him on shot blocks slightly (1.2 to 1.1).

Aldridge will be on his walk year after this season.

^Keep in mind Horford's scoring has come as the #2 and #3 option. While LaMarcus has been the #1 option for years, with entire defenses keyed to stop him every night.

I watched a fair number of Portland games last year as I'm a well known fan of Damian Lillard. Aldridge is pretty damn good.

Just saying...

Tough call but intriguing.. I could see Aldridge playing that Duncan role a little bit better than Horford, at least offensively. Al's leadership and other intangibles are key though when you're building a winner.

Seems kind of a wash trade to me.

I would not mind seeing Aldrige in a Hawks uniform, my dad loves him some Aldridge. Although I would really hesitate with giving up Horford because production is the same but LMA makes more money of the next 2 years and can just walk after next season.
