Questions for next season

Post#1 » by Verballer » Fri Jul 26, 2013 2:59 pm

What would you consider a bust and what is your expected result for this season?

Easily a 60 win team if they mesh well IMO and Doc Rivers proved to be good a meshing players well in Bostons title year. No huge egos (well besides maybe CP3) so 60+ wins seems easy for this team.

Bust would be 50-55 wins IMO
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PS expectations?

WCF OR BUST

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Team averages?

Just to name a few (if healthy)

CP3 18/10/3.5 with 2.5 Steals

BG 20/10/3.5 with a block

DJ to have a great year under Doc
10/8 and 2-2.5 blocks

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MVP/DPOY/MIP/FMVP?!?! for OUR team?

Cp3/DJ/DJ

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Potential trades surprises etc?

Dude, this will be my 11th year as a Season Tix Holder, I have learned to enjoy the "RIDE" & don't worry about expectations. The year is long, there needs to be a lot to fall into place to win a NBA title, so sit back & enjoy it, it WILL be fun!

I love this attitude. I get expectations, but sometimes let's just sit back and enjoy the team we love :D

it'll be fun, I really want Blake to come out with a big season, averaging 20 and 10 again is exactly what I mean. If things go well, we could look really dangerous but as we all know playoffs can be a different story.

Blake and DeAndre's growth.

all im worried about.
we can continue to look at CP, the 2 guard blah blah blah.
we're going as far as those 2 develop....we know what everybody else can do.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with having expectations. I'd much rather expect greatness than expect a high lotto pick. TBH, anything less than a Conference Finals appearance would be disappointing IMO.

Title or bust is not a good way to look at things. A lot has to fall in place in terms of health, matchups, etc for that to work, so I'm not going to have that mindset. The players can, but as fans, we shouldn't. WCF though is a reasonable expectation for a team that should be in the top 3 in their conference.

I think getting the the WCF is a good goal, that's the hope. The biggest things in getting there:
-DeAndre Jordan becoming a high impact defender
-DeAndre Jordan going from a horrific to just bad FT shooter which will keep him on the floor longer
-Blake Griffin continuing to improve on defense
-Blake Griffin improving his jumpshot and shooting overall
-Health of course

Quake Griffin is correct, Blake and DeAndre are the "limiting reactants" for this teams success. Paul can only do so much, and he's played at a high level individually to no avail for the team. The former two need to be "catalyzed" for this team to improve.

All good points. BG and DJ are imperative to the success of this team. However, when you take into account the massive on the coaching stafff(not just Doc, but Alvin Gentry basically gives the Clips two head coaches), the unbelievable floor spacing with Dudley and Redick, a more than adequate replacement for Bledsoe in Collison and bringing back Barnes, it's easy to see why expectations are so high.

Maybe we as fans should temper our expectations, but the team shouldn't. A title or bust mentality keeps them motivated.

For me...

I expect at least WCF... title expectations are there but realistically, we're basically a new team.

I want to see how DJ/BG do, next year should be the for sure title or bust. This year, i'd be happy with WCF as long as DJ/BG show that they have had great improvement.
