Didn't Joe guarantee his contract this summer for next year.

I'd like to see him play the back-up center minutes. I see Drummond playing 32-38 minutes and giving Slava the back-up minutes as a guy who can play post defense and dunking would work well. I'm not expecting a lot but just solid enough for me.

I really see Drummond playing 28-30mpg for a full season. I bet that Monroe will see much burn at Center with Smith at PF plenty this season.

Piston Prince wrote:Krav may well be the worst player in the NBA. Fringe roster spots should either go to young players (ie Siva, Mitchell) or to old vets providing a locker room pressence (the Jerry Stackhouses of the world), not 26 year old non prospects who don't do anything at NBA level.

The only explanation I can come up with for resigning him was that Dumars wanted to carry one garbage player in the 1 million salary slot. In case a trade came up where he needed to throw in another contract to match salary. Instead of having to give up someone who actually has talent like Middleton, now he can just throw in Slava's contract if necessary. That's the only reason for keeping him that makes any sense to me. Like you said he can't play and already too old to make much improvement. He brings no veteran leadership (can barely even speak english) and we already have 6 bigs and no need for 7.

As bad as he is he might be better than 3 or 4 other guys on the roster so I don't think you can really call anybody the worst player in the league.

You are right, he's not Austin Rivers.
