Al Harrington: I've lost 27 pounds and want on a contender

Post#1 » by The4thHorseman » Tue Jul 30, 2013 2:31 pm

It’s been hard work,” Harrington, who gained all of his weight back and more last season, said of his road back. “I started on April 26. That’s the day I got in the gym, and I’ve been in here ever since. I really had no time off, just been grinding and trying to lose the weight. I feel like the lighter I am the more pressure I take off my knee, you know what I mean? So that was the focus behind losing the weight, and then just being strong.

“I’ve lost 27 pounds. I’m on my way down. I had to do it, and I’m focused. I’ve got a lot left in the tank. I’m only 33 years old, and people act like I’m 40. I’m just excited about getting back out there on the court and showing everybody. For me, this year I’m going to have a chip on my shoulder, so if I play like that I’m going to be tough to deal with.”

"I want to win, so I'll put it like this: I want to go to a situation where I can compete to make the playoffs," he said. "I'm too old to play for nothing. When I was younger, of course you play for stats and you want to be good, but I'm not going to be a Hall of Famer or nothing like that, so I want to win. I just want to win.

Didn't know Harrington needed to lose weight. In fact, didn't even know Harrington was still in the L.

Could be a good scorer off the bench for some team in need. It's a pity Memphis already has so many forwards, I have a feeling he would have flourished there.

He's only 1 year removed from putting up 14ppg for a playoff team. If he's willing to play for cheap, someone will take him.

Heck, OKC signed Ryan Gomes, and Gomes is basically a homeless man's Al Harrington.

Heat can use him as a stretch 4 while Haslem recovers from knee surgery.

Don Nelson used to call him fat I remember. I like the ninja turtle though and would like to see some team give him a chance. He's obviously ready to grind and compete

Your team needs him more than anyone else, just to avoid what he's capable of doing to AB. Prevent him from going to a WC team and shutting him down 3-4 games in season, then possibly in a postseason show down.

It happened when they Karl matched them up in Nuggets vs Bucks games.

I wouldn't mind him as a stretch 4 but doubt we go after him with Speights and an increased effort to give Barnes minutes there.

Plus Bogut posts up maybe 1-2 times a game. Sometimes not at all, but he should start out healthier this year do maybe he does.

Dallas would take him. Dirk Al SamD BWright is a decent big man rotation. They need another big.

Damn good for him. 27lbs is a lot of weight. Dallas wouldn't put him on a contending team but a possible playoff team yeah.

Mia - no they can't get salaries matched.
Indy - no they just got scola
Chi - Maybe? Doubt they got enough $ though.
Bkn - probably buy him out lol. Kidding won't happen
Nyk - Already got 2 studs in Amare & Bargs
Okc - Could use him! Need a big man scorer
Sas - Already get Diaw & Bonner
Lac - Be a good fit. the LO role last year
Hou - Good fit as well
Gsw - No need there.

Chicago, Oklahoma, LA Clips, Houston all seem good fits. If he gets bout out I think OKC would be a perfect fit. They need some scoring bigs. Jackson Lamb ?? Harrington Adams Fisher Collison is a good balanced bench.

Really lost his role once Yao retired.

Should go to Lakers, replace Jamison's scoring and defence.

Would be a great fit in MDA's system. Young, Kaman, Harrington, Blake and Meeks coming off the bench would be dangerous.

The Nuggets actually missed Harrington pretty considerably early last season, having a stretch 4 off the bench with a good attitude that was willing to at least try on defense is a need on many teams. I would not be surprised to see him get a deal this summer.
