Jennings isnt a Good Point Guard. he would be a SG in a PGs body cuz he cant get them dimes.

well than Nelson is an average to above average starter when healthy. should gave him to the Pistons for Knight straight up.

magic get worse at PG and thus allowing either Dipo or Knight to be our Main PG and the other be our SG. trade afflalo to a team for like a 1st next year. Play harkless at SF. Play Harris at PF. Vuc at center.

Player development to the max.

I didn't say BJ is a good point guard... said he is average-to-slightly above average starting PG. Knight is a below-average starting PG. Only a two-year difference between the two. Detroit wants the playoffs.

Nelson is a 31 year old PG that is never healthy.

8mill per for 3 years is a nice deal for Jennings IMO. That is basically the going rate for average-ish starting PGs. I'm not a big fan of Jennings at all but this deal is more fair than what I thought he would get before the offseason started.
i would have started Billups and kept the other 2 young guys as future trade chips. Billups knows how to get you to the Playoffs. let him mentor Knight into an average PG.

If he doesn't work out at SF then he can play at PF and have Drummond come off the bench. They can start whoever they have at SF this year for a little bit then trade for a better SF. They don't have to contend this year... They're just setting themselves up for the future. You can't build a contender overnight... You have to make one piece by piece. And right now they only need 1 maybe 2 more pieces to get there.

It's a great deal considering he wanted the max. I really thought a team would be dumb enough to give him one too.
8 million for a 40% shooting Chucker hardly qualifies as a steal.

You either hate Jennings, the Pistons, or both.

I think he just needs a new atmosphere, Milwaukee never really seemed the place for him.

Jennings would have been off the market weeks ago if he was willing to take 8 million back then. It's a very good deal. 18 points, almost 2 steals a game, 6 dimes, shooting 37.5% from 3 and 81% from the stripe and everyone harping on the 40% from the field. Nobody is perfect. He's a 23 year old who is top 15 in a lot of categories and bottom 15 in a few.

I haven't liked Jennings on the Bucks, but he's one of those players that if he makes all the pieces fit together right, and gets his head screwed on, he could be damn good. I think the Pistons took a good gamble that they could help him transition, especially with Billups there to mentor him. They probably need a couple more quality veterans to really bring back that tenacious mentality that Detroit used to have.

Drummond and Monroe will be a lethal front court and one of those guys is bound to get the mismatch in every game. Smith is a decent offensive option. Jennings can give you 20ppg, but, on low efficiency. I think with more legit offensive options around him, it will open the door to better looks for him, or it will open the door to better playmaking for him.

Pistons could really use a guy like Afflalo to seal the veteran presence, and to complete their offensive potency. I'd swap him + Lamb for KCP + Mitchell + Stuckey.

This.

New team, new location and most importantly new management for Brandon Jennings. He has talent, and now he has a leader in Billups that can get in his ear and turn his career around.

Jennings is a low risk, high reward kinda guy for the Pistons. Especially at that price. And if he doesn't work out for them he still has value around the league.

I'll post this again for people who still think Jennings is any good

Some of you guys just can not watch basketball if you really think having Jennings on your team will do any good.

I am excited for my other favorite team. Even though I hate and trash Jennings, he does have great talent.

And, with Billups as his backup mentoring him along with Cheeks, this has to be a great thing.

Jennings
MCP
Josh Smith
Monroe
Drummond

Just give that a year or two to digest, then boom. Total domination. Pistons will also have like another $10 mil plus next year to spend to boot!!!

wat an Awful Line-up.
Jennings can only shoot bricks, MCP is an Unknown commodity and will start on the bench behind Stuckey, Josh Smith is Playing out of Position as a SF. the only 2 peices i like are Monroe and Drummond.

Certainly will be more exciting over the next 2 years in comparison to the past 4 miserable years there!

swap granger with george and its better. why add granger when we supposed to be developing young guns :|

im sure he likes this trade simply for the large expiring in grangers contract. if not that then im confused too

Yes it was for the large expiring and that it would get some value out of the money that would be going to Hedo instead of for waste. I think that Granger could help Moe or Harris as a good SF vet as well.

lol, is there a link? was it on the podcast?

edit: here you go

To Bucks fans, who grabbed the "Most Depressed NBA Fan Base" championship belt from Sacramento after the Harris-Redick debacle, followed by them splurging $46.1 million on O.J. Mayo, Zaza Pachulia and Carlos Delfino, leaving Brandon Jennings in limbo and bringing Luke Ridnour aboard in their eternal quest to finish 40-42. How bad is it for Bucks fans? On Real GM's Bucks message board right now, there's a 300-page thread called "Official Tobias Harris Watch" that started right after the trade11 and quickly descends into the darkest circles of hell. It's like watching the last 75 minutes of Apocalypse Now. Poor Milwaukee.

Yep! I sent him an email about it awhile back though I'm sure I wasn't the only one who did. It's something that I knew he definitely would be interested in.

Anyone that thinks a team featuring Jennings, Josh Smith, Monroe, and Drummond is a treadmill team needs to check into rehab for their cocaine addiction.

They could easily, EASILY displace either of the NY teams for 4th best team in the east thats without taking into consideration any moves that may happen to bring in more help at the 2. Jennings' numbers remind me of Chanucey Billups through the years, little to no difference in terms of shooting percentages imo, and Brandon is the better scorer.

That is the most entertaining non-off topic thread in all of RealGM. Got lots of respect for that board.

A. Drummond ≈ L. Sanders
G. Monroe ≈ E. Ilyasova
J. Smith ≈ M. Ellis
B. Jennings = B. Jennings

Definitely looks like a playoff team in the East, don't get me wrong, but not sure there's much upside beyond that this season. Still serious questions to address regarding spacing.
