Who gets the final 2 spots

Post#1 » by The Moose » Wed Jul 31, 2013 6:29 am

With now 13 players, who do you think gets the final 2 spots.

I'm think;

Siva

Aldrich

I'm hoping Oden has a change of heart and wants to sign with us

I really like Siva and would love for him to make the team, but my guess is we sign a big man and leave one roster spot open for potential trades. That said, of all the big men available, my guess is we go for one with more experience. I wouldn't be surprised if we signed Chris Wilcox. That said, I think Aldrich will also be a possibility and he's the one I hope we get. I just wouldn't be surprised if we passed over him mostly due to his age/experience or lack there of.

I think Siva is 100% signed now. Chauncey is oft injured so we'll need a 3rd PG.

The other guy will be a big man. (Ben Wallace, Cole, Oden, Ayon, Collins)

I will love the jennings trade even more if it means siva gets signed, I think he could be a nice player on this team.As for backup center cole aldrich would be a good pickup, and I would take the chance on oden if he agreed to sign here.

I REALLY hope we get Wallace. He is good for 10-15min per game I think and his veteran leadership would be awesome. I guess Siva can get the last spot. I think we need another SG though and a better backup SF.

Bynum?

I think Siva and a backup C will fill the remaining spots.

Wouldn't it be better to hire Big Ben as a coach of someone sort? I think his playing days are over.

I think its going to be Siva and Tyrus Thomas, but would love if Big Ben came back for an encore. I don't think we have any chance at all signing Oden. He wants to go to a team where he's going to have a major role, not be a 10 mpg backup here. Though it would be awesome if Joe got it done.

This would be ideal, and I'm fairly confident this deal assures us signing Siva, which I'm very happy about; he seems like a talented kid with a good head on his shoulders and he deserves the opportunity (and I'm honestly not sure he doesn't outplay Bynum, anyway).

The other spot will almost assuredly go to a big man (if it's used at all). It would be great if Joe could get into the Oden sweepstakes, but I'm guessing we're both a day late and a buck short at this point, as I think other teams have both an inside track and more money to offer. As has been written in other threads tonight (including by yours truly), we're really talking about a third center here 'cuz Monroe will get most of the minutes at the 5 when Dre sits, so any live, large body with six fouls to burn should do. A young player like Aldrich or Daniel Orton (if he's cut by OKC) would be preferable, but a veteran like Wilcox or Jason Collins would do perfectly well as well.

EDITED TO ADD — Q00's idea of Tyrus Thomas is an interesting one as well (and also a very "Joe Dumars Move" to make, picking up a former lotto pick who has just never "gotten it"). He's obviously not a true center, but he's a big man who fits our agenda of filling the roster with athletic players who can defend and run. If the price is right (i.e. dirt freakin' cheap), I could get behind signing him.

People REALLY need to stop with the Ben Wallace **** lol. He didn't play last season and is going to be 39 years old before the season starts. He is done guys lol.

I hope one of them is Siva, and the other either Tyrus Thomas or Cole Aldrich.

I don't understand why people want Tyrus Thomas. He's a lazy player who's only talent is his athleticism. Not to mention he's a PF, not a C which is what we need. Picking up Cole Aldrich would make the most sense for our team.

Major role on the Heat? That's not likely. I don't think Oden will get a lot of minutes from any team. Miami is just desperate for a big man that could actually contribute. Our team is going to be too big for them.

Siva makes no sense. We have 3 PGs now that we traded Knight for a PG. He would be a 4th stringer, we are better sending Siva to Europe until Billups retire, then we could have a spot for Siva.

My guess is like someone else posted, we sign a veteran big and leave an open roster spot.

No to Cole Aldrich. I think there are better options out there. Who knows. Stuckey and CV are still on the team. Things might still shake around before the season starts. But I think those contracts will be for the trade deadline and Dumars would be very smart to wait. I can see a signing coming. Oden would be a nice pick up. I don't believe he'll reach half the potential he got before. But I think he could be a solid big man off the bench. However, I can see us getting a veteran big man. I'll need to look at the options first.

I'm looking at Petro, Diop, and Pryzbilla. Pryzbilla being the highest chance.

I'm not sure if any of them signed somewhere else. I don't care to check.

Wasn't it reported that Pryzbilla was probably going to retire because his legs were destroyed?

As a 10 man. Just can't see Smith playing the 3 like that for that long.
